Good.
Not knocking him as a striker. My point was our formation is suited to one striker up top. That striker needs to be a target man.

Antonsson is more the lad who plays off the target man. He reminds me of a David Somma type.

You don't get too many strikers like him these days. You continue to get the target man but the role of the other striker (Fowler/Owen/Bellamy) seems to have been merged into either a number 10 or a winger. For example Sterling/Martial I reckon.

This suggests we need a bit more variety when we go a goal down, or if we are a bit flat, as we were today. If you have a striker on the bench and you are not making any headway, why are you not putting him on the pitch? Roofe, Douks and Pablo were all looking jaded towards the end.

My team ratings barely add up to 10. Awful today. Pablo left his magic hat on the coach I think. Jansson back next game thank fluke for that.

Pablo wasn't keen to get involved today...Remember he took a hit in the Derby game and maybe broke his nose.

A lot of credit has to go to Barnsley too, as bad as we were. They made us play badly by not letting us rest, constant pressure on the ball. That's why Pablo struggled, he didn't get any space on the ball and ran into blind alleys.

Only player who did well was Chris Wood.

Good.
It's a fair challenge. I suppose the response is for Monk to answer but considering his record it maybe answers for itself.

I think Antonsson in the right team would be good. Bringing him on means a change of formation which Monk may not want to do.

Well done Barnsley. They worked us out after 30 odd mins. Our corners were predictable with no left footer to mix it up. Midfield was lacklustre and Douks was his normal crappy self - every attempt to win the ball was a foul. How he gets played ahead of Dallas I have no idea.

However we move on. Get Sacko back. Get the Magic Hat back and get Taylor back and we are a different prospect.

LIW says we learned Ayling is not good enough for centre back. Was he saying that after the Derby game?

Credit where credits due, Barnsley were much better than us all over the park, they simply wanted to win it more, these are the types of games which need battle hardened c'ship players those who are not scared to put their foot in, yesterday they were putting real pressure on us didn't give us time on the ball, if I have a criticism it was not slowing the pace of the game down...

Said after Liverpool he wasn't a centre half

Said after derby let's judge him against a decent striker not some cart horse like bent who is a defenders dream

Disappointed obviously after yesterday but the way people react online after we lose is laughable.

It's good we don't have to wait long for a chance to put this right

We lost, credit to Barnsley. Ayling was poor but the team reverted to messing around at the back again and the defending for the first goal was schoolboy-like.

Wake up call, we can't be complacent.

Doukara > Dallas.
Stronger
Quicker
Better in the air
More direct
Bigger goal threat
Holds the ball better
Crosses the ball as good as Dallas.

Negative is doukara does give away too many free kicks.

Dallas is bang average

So move Roofe over to the left in a free role, maybe have him and Hernandez switch roles every now and then, and put Sacko back in on the right.

Ayling wasn't switched on, it wouldn't matter where you played him. Having said that, you could say the same thing about all of the players. I think the fighting in the stands didn't help their concentration but that's no excuse.

Would have hoped one or two would have wanted to join in,

maybe if we hadn't have conceded just before half time it may have been a different story, but as i say we were 2nd best all over...

Where is Sacko though? I have not heard he is injured. Very surprised if he had been dropped completely from the squad because hes been a huge player for us this season and far better option than a lot of those on the bench yesterday.

Anyone know where he is?

Who would LIUW have played instead of Coyle and Ayling this should be very interesting as I have said before you don't think!

posted on 22/1/17

Leeds 62 did you watch the game? Because Doukara's elbow was rammed by a Barnsley body at speed and Doukara was surprised at the time. He didn't foul anybody!

posted on 22/1/17

Sacko should definitely be playing though.

posted on 22/1/17

Sackos injured back Wednesday I believe,

posted on 22/1/17

Doukara's foul wasn't a foul. They've both just jumped and caught each other, pathetic decision. The timing of the goal killed us yesterday. We seemed in control towards the end of the fist half although they bossed the opening 30

I do hope you are right about Sacko coming back on Weds - we need his skills.
