Fergie happy with Mou

He was happy with Moyes.

I suppose but moyesy was his man...

Curious why you disagree with this? Completely agree...

"The team is playing really well and he has been very unlucky. He has had six 1-1 draws and in every game he has battered the opposition.

"If they hadn't had all these draws, they would be there challenging Chelsea. That is the unfortunate part but he is going to have to live with that."

Reckon we really will challenge next season, could even win it

Cos the same can be said for arsenal, pool and city esp. They've all had loads of games they should have won but threw away... It's a worthless statement IMO...

I'm too young to really know but did Ferguson use much youth in his early days at United? It seemed that the successful youth didn't really come in until the early 90s, around 5 years or mare after he joined.

I know he wanted to improve the youth level at the club when he joined so maybe it wasn't straight forward to bring in youth but I always got the impression his objective to begin with was to build a strong side which he did by spending a lot of money (for then anyway) and once he had done that then the youth was something he looked to more.

Trying to think back, he must've started implementing a plan, i mean there was a massive overhaul of UTD that took place the moment he came.. late 86... By 1990 you started to see some starting to bleed through to the first team, culminating in 1996 with the Dismantling of older greats for youth.

Fergie should always be positive in his comments when speaking to the media, don't want our club turning into some sort of Madrid or Barca circus. Manager needs full support

"And did you see what he did? Ran to the halfway line. No celebration. Pointed to the ball as if to say 'get it, we are going to win this'. That is exactly the spirit Jose has created."

Love that.... of course, SAF deserves credit for instilling this in Rooney too... but Jose has everyone fighting for him till the death now. It might mean some of our fave players get dropped... or some of our least fave players get starts... but we will see a Jose team that will do everything to win... just like the SAF days.

Just wish he'd come 3 and a half years ago.

This man knows what a good job entails. See how he mentioned LVG did a good job. Funny he did not mention Moyes.

Mourinho is a draw specialist. We already drawn 8 league games, we drew 9 games last season and everyone kept complaining about 0-0 at half time etc.

LVG didn't do a good job. Hence why he was sacked.

I bet in private he's massively frustrated, though.

Fergie wouldn't say our rivals were unlucky if they'd drawn so many games after battering the opposition. He'd call it what it is: lack of quality in front of goal.

Disagree with that to some extent. The football was dire, but after the disastrous season of sexymoyesball he got us somewhat competitive again and won a trophy too
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dunno about competitive. We came fifth in the weakest Pl season in ages. Sure, the fa cup was great but it was probably the easiest set of fixtures an FA Cup winning manager has ever had.

Anyway, LVG is the past and we now have a decent United manager.

So he thinks United battered us? Interesting.

By that logic Moyes was the right choice then...

Yep, exactly what Mourinho and Guardiola will both be think privately too, even when they did bemoan refereeing decisions.

posted on 24/1/17

What logic? He supported the appointment of Moyes. In this instance here, he has assessed three managers- he decided to praise Mourinho and LVG.

posted on 24/1/17

Did Ferguson really ever praise LVG? I recall him saying he came with great experience and probably did the right thing overhauling the squad but I can't remember him coming out and saying LVG is doing a great job?

He didn't praise LVG. He said in a throwaway comment he did a good job and in his next breath said Jose is doing a great job.

You were the one making out that SAF doesn't make mistakes.

When players such as Zlatan and Aguero are missing chances that they'd usually bury there's no doubt they'll be facking frustrated.
