Becks is alright. He contributed a lot to get GB the Olympics and then that thick shiiithouse Pearce couldn't find a place in the squad for him.

What did he really contribute? Was it done so he could play in the Games? Should he have been picked even though he wasn't good enough? Perhaps other people that 'contributed' to helping London get the OG's could also have been picked?

Of course he should have been picked for his handshaking efforts alone. Ffs Craig Bellamy went,it was a dirty move by Pearce who clearly had an agenda.
Beckham wants a knighthood. There's nothing wrong with that at all.
He's done good things like give money to kids in order to help him get what he wants. That doesn't make the good things he's done less good. The kids don't care they only got Beckham money because Becks wants something in return, they get the money they need. In fact they'll want him to be rewarded in the way he hopes for so that more wealthy people will donate in order to get the rewards that they want.
I don't see any reason for denying him a knighthood at this point. It's not a secret that they've always been for sale really.

It's not about bribery, it's about we as people not having our heads in the sand. People have bought knighthoods since knighthoods were a thing.
If it means something to David, let him give some millions to the have nots and get one.
But let's not pretend shall we. A knighthood is, in terms of the real world, meaningless. We can pretend they're not, but they are.
BUT
If Brits like Beckham are willing to donate to the benefit of people who have little to get one, then they are actually of more meaning and worth in the real world than they ever have been before.
