Player meeting

The Holland midfielder said: “It was really important the manager believed in us because if a manager says the same as the critics in the situation we were in that is killing for a team. It would kill the confidence of the players and that is not good. When you are a team you have to believe in each other, you are a kind of family and if one of yours says: ‘You’re not good enough’ or what the media has been saying that is not a good thing. He believes in us and I don’t think he just said it because he wanted to keep the confidence – I think he truly believes it as well. That gave us a good feeling.”

Mané epitomised the appetite throughout the Liverpool team, starting his run for the opening goal as soon as possession was won in midfield and snapping into the ponderous Dier to break clear for the second.

But Wijnaldum cautioned: “He is really important but it is too much Sadio Mané now. He scored two goals, but also I think it has been about him because we had poor results without Sadio. Before he left for Africa we had good results – only against Sunderland we did not have a good result. Still they said: ‘Sadio Mané, Sadio Mané,’ but last week we lost with Sadio Mané. I don’t think it is fair to the other players to say: ‘Because of Sadio Mané we win.’ Of course he is a great player – he helps us with his speed and he scores goals – but I think it is more about the team than only Sadio Mané. That is what I think. It is normal. If it was another player like when Phil was injured, if we had poor results then everyone would have said: ‘Phil Coutinho.’ You have to get used to it but I don’t think it is fair

I'd love to know which poster is one starring every article! I mean, what is the point?!

5 stars from me then.

....

clearly mr wijnaludm is a bit jealous of mane.

He also played better than i've seen him play for a month so obviously a kick up the backside for the lot of them was in order.

LFC was always based on trust and senior players doing thier part. Some senior players do need to stand up and be counted for sure as lallana is right that white line is where their responsibility for the results starts and there was zero v hull

Hendo has really grown into the skipper role. Under Rodgers he was too nice but now if players are not performing he does let them know.

One thing that used to annoy me last season was that we would never get in the refs face but now Hendo is constantly in the refs face questioning the officials decisions. Something like is defo coming from the manager and good to see Hendo implement this.

Yeah, jealousy crossed my mind! I'm not sure that he meant it that way, I'd like to think he meant that it wasn't fair that so much pressure was put onto individual players

All those 1 stars, you bar stewards

Funny enough, I'm not remotely interested how many stars any of my articles get. I just noticed that someone 1 starred it as soon as I posted the article, then looked down and saw that most articles had at least one star, even when it was clear it wasn't deserving of it.

It's clearly one person, and you have to question why someone feels the need to do it. It's just bizarre behaviour

Spitting their dummies out like their players did on Saturday the dirty

One positive from our poor run of form is that responsibility s being taken by both the players and manager, instead of snide remarks being made in the media. Hopefully we're through the other side of it and form will pick up. We'll have to wait and see how we get on in the next 5 matches, although that'll be partly dismissed as being because we played Spurs, Arsenal, Everton and City. The games against Leicester and Burnley will hopefully show we're on the up.

comment by Pranks-So I turn 60 this year, my missus doesn't let me drink so there won't be any beer. She hits me if I protest, so I spend most of my time in the gym working on my puffy nipples and saggyy chest. (U6283)

I think we have a good run of games now with teams who will be proactive going forward which will keep us there or there about the top 4.

posted on 13/2/17

Some of these teams that usually park the bus against us may not have that option. They could well be coming into the game needing 3 points, which could play into our hands.....

The next worry is Burnley at home

posted on 13/2/17

I'm not too worried about Burnley. They've been fantastic at home, but pretty abject away. If we can't beat them at Anfield then we don't deserve CL!

A good post. One thing that I struggle to accept is though that the meeting took place without even Jurgen's knowledge. I struggle to buy that. Our manager is the type, despite all the laughs and jokes for the cameras, as being 100% in charge. Not the total freak of our beloved Rafa, but nonetheless being in command of all decisions, including this.
