Is Luis Enrique a gonner?

Probably but they're running out of boot room boys now. Saying that I don't know who is managing the b side.

Not sure Enrique could do much about his players being awful last night. Even Messi was totally off his game.

Hopefully Barca don't sack Enrique though because you can rest assured that the likes of Barca and Real are keeping tabs on Conte.

Misread the title at first thinking you said 'gooner'. He would be a legit choice to take over from Wenger I suppose.

Spurtle i probably have misspelt it. But alas.........never mind

Good test for him to prove himself away from Barce if he does go. But yeah their season is looking poor so far. As good as MSN are relying on them for 60+ games each season isn't that sustainable, their recruitment has also been lowkey shītę over last few years (Paco Alcacer, Gomes, Douglas, Matheiu, Vermaelan, Aleix Vidal not replacing Dani Alves, trying to rely on La Masia grads before realising they're not Iniesta/Xavi/Messi and loaning/selling them).

I think he's coming to the end of this cycle. I can see him being moved on in summer unless they win the league title which looks unlikely.

Don't think they'd go for Conte myself. He's a top class manager but not got Barcelona dna. Same as Jose. They'd have never gone for him either even if he hadn't managed Real. They're both a bit on the defensive side.

At United, Madrid n Barcelona you are expected to be successful but also play a certain way too.

I reckon the likes of Klopp, Poch, Tuchel would be more attractive to the Barca Hierarchy if Enrique did go. Maybe even Unai Emery could too.

Yes, his days are numbered. They've been sharpening their knives in Barcelona for a long time now. The local media were really laying into him last night from every possible angle.

That said, he'll definitely see the season out, imo.

Only two circumstances could bring that forward:

a. their CL position was threatened, which would require the MSN to down tools, or

b. if Messi and the dressing room specifically demanded his head

I suppose it might be a bit uncomfortable for the directors if Barça went on to do the domestic double, but last night is the sort of defeat that leaves deep wounds.

Conte isn't a defensive manager, not even close to being one. As for Barca they don't always exclusively go for managers with Barca "dna".

He will be a definite gonner by the end of summer. The tides have turned against him. The general consensus is that they have become a team without an identity and Enrique has made them into that with changing the style of play and recruiting some pis$ poor players like Gomes.

Also comments like I dont have a gameplan, I just say abracadabra and the magic of MSN happens, doesnt help.

Jorge Sampaoli is likely to be there next manager imo

doing v well at sevilla...and the style of play fits

posted on 15/2/17

I thought of Sampaoli too, but don't know whether he'd be willing to jump ship so quickly. Rather hope he wouldn't.

Setién is another guy who I think could do a good job there. At Las Palmas he's had a collection of academy boys and journeymen playing arguably the best possession-based footy in the division for well over a year now.

The problem for any new manager there is going to be the level of expectation and the lack of time he'll be given to turn things around. From that point of view, Sampaoli would probably be cut a bit more slack initially than a no-name like Setién.

They would hire some explayer or some random name, thats what they usually do.

posted on 15/2/17

didnt think of Setien..that's a good shout

Las Palmas have been one of the most watchable La Liga teams this season

Eusebio Sacristán is another likely candidate, of course.

He's got Real Sociedad flying since he took over the Moyes shipwreck, has managerial experience at Barça, both as assistant to Rijkaard and with the B team, and also had a good record promoting youth in his time at Celta.

Of course you are. Your defence is your main strength and is the reason you'll win the title.

You play 3 cb's and wing backs. That would never be allowed at Barca.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Not only is the 3-4-3 we play a subtle tweak on Barca's 4-3-3, just drop the wing backs and push the central CB into DM. The man who breed the Barcelona 'DNA' mentality, Johan Cryuff, was the man who particularly invented the 3-4-3 formation... so um, yes I can see them playing it mate

Conte's 3-4-3 no, you're right about that. Old school Ajax's 'total football' 3-4-3 with the diamond midfield? Absolutely.

What about the Celia Vigo manager? Young and did well last season, haven't heard much on him this seaspn

posted on 15/2/17

Pep did deploy 343 in latter stages of his reign at Barcelona.

Enrique gone at end of season, probably having won the Copy Del Rey.
Board won't stand for mediocre season (assuming Madrid win league).

I can only see ex Barca player as coach.
Maybe Monaco's coach as an outsider.
Although Sampaoli does have a low release clause...
