No give the best 11 a run out.
I really hope Burton go down and a team with a decent away end allocation like shef U come up.

Oh Griff, you seemed such as nice young man when you replaced Squadron Leader Mottershead on Remembrance Day. Then you come out with the above. Have you no sense of romance, that a small team can do well in a higher division? If Burton can do well, so can the Rams, it gives me a hope that I might one day see our team competing with the best in Europe.

I have been a Derby supporter all my life, but on Tuesday I would love it if Nige did one over us. It isn't as if we will be going up this year, so it doesn't matter so much.

I've said it before and I'll say it yet again, we are no better off than when NC was sacked. We are just £40 million worse off. At least when NC was manager we didn't have great expectations.

I can't sympathise with you wanting that result VC but I hope Burton survive at least one more season.

Its not just the money wasted on players we have signed on big fees and big wages , but on players such as Mason Bennett etc who have been at the club years and given no return .
We sign what we are told are good players and they go down hill , never improve .
We need a big clear out but .that is not going to happen when we are giving big contracts and extensions to Martin and the like .
This season is a right off and with this lot next will be very similar , lightweight in midfield , predictable up top and dodgy at the back, no leaders and no spine .

We will lose Hughes and Ince at the start of next season. I wouldn't blame them for leaving.

Noticeable that teams such as Brighton and Boro who finished 3rd went on to get promoted the following season, (I am assuming Brighton will), but we made the wrong acquisitions in 2015 when we were favourites to go up. We have now re-employed the person responsible for those acquisitions as our director of football.

Spart I suppose it goes down to who those wrong acquisitions are that were made in 2015. Bent? Not done too bad this season, Ince? Again not doing bad. Weimann, yes seems a bad signing, Shackell. I didn't want him to be signed and very overpriced when we could have had Dunk for £500k more but people on here we saying for months that we needed to sign Shackell as we won't get promoted without him. Carson has been a good signing.

question for you all..

if we were to jam our way to a playoff final and win it,would you want to go to the promised land with our lot.i know you say we d invest in new players ,but how many would we have to change.?

im normally an optimistic chap but even i think we ll finish outside the playoffs..we are carrying that much dross and any type of injury to most posistions on the park we wouldnt be able to compete..

It could be the only way we can afford to reinvest in the squad. We've spent heavily in the last 18 months and I don't think there's any £££'s left so unless we sell Hughes and Ince the only way we are going to have serious money to spend is if we go up. Clement and pearsons spending as set the club back big time

Just stay optimistic Diamond. I find that whatever I may think, Derby have a way of doing something all of their own anyway.

I think it is now time for a Match Thread

thats the thing heb..

we are always optimistic..we are derby...

do you think players have this notion that they are just about good enough for the championship but if they got us to the prem they would know for sure that they would be unemployed before the start of the season??

Nervously straying into footy territory here....

We keep having this "the Championship is better and do we really want to go up" discussion. This compounded last season with confused messages about "building" and "no pressure to go up" Not that this prevented sacking managers etc.

Players? They must know realistically if they are Upper Championship/ Premier/Scottish Premier standard and have planned accordingly.....And the best will want to be Premiership players, with Derby.

That means you Will.

If Mel had bought some of the dross players (as diamond puts it) on the credit card, we could have claimed they were faulty and got a refund. As it is, the only real assets, that could fund a promotion push, are the crown jewels of Hughes, Ince & Lowe. Exactly the players you'd want to take up to the Prem with you.

Peeder & View must be on holiday, or maybe they think the season's over already ?
