Wolves v Chelsea {FA Cup live}

Have seen many many comments elsewhere saying that the difference between zenga and Lambert performances is chalk and cheese and I think that is probably the case when it comes to effort and organisation.

But yet results stay the same, that tells me the problem is what we are putting out on the pitch and the misguided tactics that don't suit the players and of course our complete worthlessness in the final third.

I don't disagree with that wulfrun and that is what Lambert now needs to crack. The games we have played well in is where teams are prepared to attack us and give us some space to play. When we play against teams that concentrate on denying us space we aren't breaking them down. Don't think that's anything new actually, been the case with most Wolves teams over the last 30 years or so. I'm sure we all have many memories of poor teams getting a result against us over the years.

When you look at the McCarthy team that won this division we were a threat from left and right and had two players looking to get on the end of things in the box. We came close to that when we had Sako, Dicko and Afobe but even then we had little threat from the right. And now we have little from the left so clubs can double up on Costa. But crucially we only have one player regularly going into the opponents area. Bod and Dicko are both great players for a goal scorer to play alongside, and with more help I am sure they would score goals themselves. A frontline of Costa, Bodvarsson, Rhodes and Graham/Zyro would be a top championship atttack and would probably hold their own at the top level.

We have missed cavaleiro quite a bit, had much better balance with him in the side.

Cheers DJ, I value your comments and all the other lads that go to matches who must have a better idea of the reality of our performances

Me too. It's almost like being there myself.

Had forgotten all about Danny Graham, another who looked inept for us but yet can score goals readily for a side in the relegation spots.

It isn't us though, it is them.

Haven't read most comments, but if I can add my two cents worth.

If we can keep Graham fit and gradually give him game time, we may have the threat from both wings that we had a few years ago. PL has the players that can play wide, it's just unfortunate that we've had both Graham and Zyro out injured for so long.

Now we're out of the cup, he may get the chance to get a settled side and move up the table.

I think cinci makes a valid point when highlighting the fact that results haven't really improved under PL, although our performances seemed to have. But at the end of the day, it's points that matter.

We looked a little more threatening with cavaleiro as well wolfie.

Be good to see Graham and zyro back though but not a clue as to who will fit where, my only hope is that Ronan gets to run the show in the ten spot.

Yes wolfie but when we can't seem to score too many we'll always struggle, I know that's stating the obvious but it's a fact.

Like DJ i think our overall play and spirit is improved under PL. I don't see us becoming consistently good this season as i think we're three or four players short. And we won't win games regularly until we have more than costa and edwards scoring.

So long as we pick up four or five more wins this season, which should be a minimum, we'll be out of relegation danger. So the rest of the games should be PL learning what he needs to about the squad and continuing to give ronan, gibbs-white, wilson, graham (phased come back) cavaleiro and others some game time.

It's seems at the moment that the opposition doubles up on Costa, leaving no threat from the wings. Now if we had Graham on the left and Costa on the right, all we'll need is someone to get on the end of crosses.

Personally, I'd like to see us play two up front in a 3-5-2 formation, especially against so called weaker sides.

And there in lay the problem, cross cross cross, how about we actually pose a threat through the middle of the bleedin park rather than just getting as many crosses in as possible.

Agreed. Seeing deliveries into the box from both wings, with effective forwards meeting them to make the ol' onion bag bulge, is guaranteed to excite the fans, and maybe swell the crowds. Proper football, the like of which we haven't seen since Iwelumo and co were thrilling us.

And for Cinci, maybe in a friendly, I'd suggest playing the tea lady in a tenna pad role.

morning boys
not posted for a few days. had some bad news health wise. and 2 home champo games, 2 defeats and yet again no goals really pizzed me off.
interesting to see the general level of support for bod and dicko but have to say i dont share it.

and though i fully support lambo and think he is going to be good for us i do think it was criminal to not get, and seemingly not even attempt to get, a goalscoring forward.
a powder puff attack, however well they "run the channels" will take our £30 mill team down.

Best wishes Wolfgang

I think Wolves have needed to sign a centre forward since the day Dicko got injured in August 2015. It was criminal we didn't buy one in winter 2016 and again in Jan 2017. I do think both Bod and Dicko are playing well and either would be the ideal partner for that goal scoring striker we haven't got.
