with comments suggesting he should have scored a lot more.

Think these are people that honestly thought he'd be the next Henry.

Basically a metaphor for his career the 100 goals.

Started at Wembley.

Finished at a non league hovel.

All downhill

You also have to remember that while some of the players you mentioned are similar in role to Walcott, Smith was a striker and some played in a far better team than we have now. I am happy with his goal return for the club. When fit he also adds to the team with his pace. I also think that as a fast player he is a lot better than a lot of the headless chicken pace merchants.

Im starting to think we place too much expectation on players just because they are young and English....

and when they dont turn out to be as good as the media hope we dismiss them as 'not good enough' or 'all downhill' rather than realising the expectations we place on them were not realistic in the beginning.

ps, I am not 'just beginning' to think this and neither is anyone else. This has been clear for a very long time for anyone who genuinely has an interest in football and not the celeb driven idiotic tabloid rags.

shiiit player only does it against lower teams e.g sutton and southampton b team

Its a very good achievement for a player who has played on the wing for all but 10 games or so. I think the reason why he gets so much flack is partly because he isn't a troublemaker. Those type of players live on hype and he doesn't court it. That allows pundits to flood the airwaves with stereotypical nonsense because they haven't heard anything to counter their set opinions. And partly because his game depends on off the ball movement which of course means he is creating space for others that often goes unnoticed unless he gets a defence splitting pass that leads to a goal more often than not.

Even this season Walcott has scored 8 goals so far in the premier league from midfield even after being injured for 2 months. Hazard has 10, only two more, and will probably win the player of the year award!

Incorrect. He's scored more goals against Chelsea than anyone else (7 in fact)

Top Arsenal goalscorers:

1. Henry - 228
2. Wright - 185
3. Bastin - 178
4. Radford - 149

...
17. Walcott - 100

I predict Theo will make it into the top 5 (assuming he stays).

5 more years you think he'll still be playing for Arsenal?

Surely only if Wenger is still manager?

Merse's 99 is the one that stands out

His comments in the 96/97 end of season video - "yeah I would have liked to get my 100 before the end of the season but I will be here next season and the one after so I'm sure it will come"

No it won't Paul

given his injury record i doubt he will get 30 goals in the next 5 years let alone 50

He's scored that goal about 15 times for us. His favourite type of finish. His best was probably the chip vs Villareal

Decent finisher with a very average all round game. Still has a football IQ that's in double digits.

He scores against all the big teams in the league and one of very few that turn up in big games

Most do, those who don't play as striker - where they should score more

I said I wanted him at LFC a couple of years ago and it wasn't well recieved but I stand by it. He is what he is.

Walcott is honestly the most inept Arsenal player on the ball during my lifetime of watching the club. At least among squad regulars (which excludes jokers like Sanogo). Doesn't matter how many goals he scores - a player who can't seem to handle the basics of dribbling, hold-up and link-up play, passing etc is a hindrance to the team. He's not a player I'll ever be a fan of.

He's scored a lot of goals against Chelsea and Spurs, I can also remember him making a difference against Barca in 2010 in the 1st leg and he also ripped Man U apart last season in our 3-0 win. No idea what you've been smoking!
