would love dortmund to do it, but i suspect Juve are the team to beat here.
Its just the same teams again. The format has gone stale. Time for a rethink.
BT Sport are killing the interest in the Champions League. It's not that their coverage is poor it's just that for most it is seen as an additional luxury and therefore not many have subscriptions.
I know there are streams but I can't be bothered with the buffering / ads / terrible picture and my Dad and brother are two that wouldn't know where to begin with such things. Both would have watched the game had it been in council telly.
Also they deliberately don't market the one free game per round, don't broadcast it in HD, and you (deliberately) can't get it it via a sky box.
UEFA have all but conceded that giving them exclusive rights was a mistake and the recent chat of either Channel 4 or ITV showing one game per round is welcome.
Anyway to answer your question, PSG
annoys me that u have to pay so much extra to watch football these days, to line the pockets of big clubs.
no wonder ivan doesnt bother with it.
seen Channel 4 are hoping to buy 1 game a week when the auction starts in the summer a think
the problem with the champs league is that games like last night are few and far between.
its like super sunday, schite.
always best when u get a good team , playing a supposed great team.
but when its 2 "greats" its generally phish.
With the attacking talent both teams have and the ropey Man City defence that game had goal-fest written all over it .
I admit it is hard to judge via the highlights but I thought that the 1st knockout round so far this year had been more exciting than recent years.
I read that the viewing figures for last night are expected to be under 1 million but had it been on council telly probably starting about 5 million and going up as word spread of what was going on, on the pitch.
That would have led to folks discussing it at work;
"How good was that game?"
"How good is Bernardo Silva?"
"I've known about him for ages via Football Manager"
Lat night was a joy to watch. Literally end to end all out attack the whole game! Both teams frightening going forward and horrific at the back.
Unreal last 20mins from City to pull it back from 3-2 behind to win 5-3.
De Bruyne is outstanding.
de bruyne sums up everything wrong with mourinho imo
he buys to win the league but leaves with no long term plan, he just needs to keep buying the best current players.
de bruyne, binned
lukaku - binned
in terms of youth development, he's shocking.
CL is still on free to air TV over here
I'm the same since its been on BT. Not got it and cant be ersed streaming it. Glad the highlights are back on STV though.
Used to love sitting with my old man as a kid on tue/wed night and watching whatever game was on STV, being entertained by the likes of zidane, fat ronaldo, ronaldinho, rivaldo etc. There were some truly exceptional games and there was still a chance that a club could come from nowhere and compete(Bayer Leverkusen @ Hampden).
Most boring knockout stage ever.
Every year.
Even the groups are fairly predictable with the odd refreshing result.
Totally lost interest in it about 8 years back and it's been getting more stale year on year.
I've only watched a tiny fraction of the Champions League games this year but I've seen a couple of the knockout games so far and they've been surprisingly terrific. I very much enjoyed the game last night.
Having said that, I don't particularly care if I don't see another CL game this season so I'm still quite non-plussed about it.
Falcao's second goal though

The auction for the rights for the next three year deal starts next month and BT are determined to hang on to it as it's crucial to their strategy to take on Sky for broadband dominance. Having only paid a modest increase to retain EPL games compared to Sky's 70% increase, I can see them again outbidding Sky for the rights so you might have to live with the Champions league on BT.
Agree with the OP about the likely winners. Think Athletico have an outstanding chance this year. The knockout games have been great so far. I found a hooky stream for the 2nd half of the Man City game and saw 4 goals

Think what they need is to subdivide the competition intoi Champions league A and Champions league B.
CL A will have the best sides in Europe. Barca, MAdrid, Bayern, Arsenal.
CL B will have the smaller clubs who have no chance of winning CL A. So the likes of Celtic, APOEL, BATE, Legia.
