I haven't read all the replies. However, surely we don't want him to go this month? We are still in 3 cup comps & in the mix for a top 4 finish. The squad will be stretched as it is.

I seem to remember in that rooney documentary that most of his family still live in ex-council houses in Toxteth? That suggests a family that wont be flying out to China anytime Rooney is missing his family.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

People living in council houses don't travel ?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are being a bit obtuse there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone is snappy as fook today, must be the excitement of the Europa.

The obvious point was that if, even with all rooney's riches, the family choose to stay put in Toxteth, they are clearly very happy with their lot and probably wouldn't be jetting off to China every time Rooney felt homesick.

I live in an ex council house, that was clearly not the main point in the slightest.

The fact that they haven't moved just shows that they are settled in their life.

I don't see what bearing that has that on them flying off to China or whatever country Rooney chooses to play in the event that he was homesick.
In fact why is Rooneys family, other than his wife and kids, even in the conversation.

Everton wont show interest in Rooney because they're,and here's the damning part, too good for him now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What abosolute rubbish.

A fading Wayne is still better than Barkley at 10 and any back up striker Everton have to Lukaku.

Heck I'd even wager he'd get in their CM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd take Barkley over Rooney any day of the week, and there's no chance he'd make our midfield, you talk same crap you do.

---------------------------
why is anything part of any conversation... the entire thread is pure speculation.

The reason I mentioned it was because several people have said that, with such money, he could easily fly his friends and family out whenever he wanted, as part of the bubble he could create. That might not be so simple with a family that are clearly settled in life and don't seem to care much about the trappings of fame and fortune.

but it is clear that everton would struggle to pay him more than £150k a week - and they may even struggle to get to that

There's a deference between struggling and refusing. Everton have a new investor, their money problems are behind them. Saying that, I wouldn't pay £100k for Rooney let alone £150k.

He might be happy to take a big pay drop in order to play more, especially for Everton.

fair point, but obviously once you let the £150k a week genie out of the bottle, you can't ever shove it back in...pay one player that kind of figure and you have lukaku, barkley et al queuing up for similar.

so yeah, everton may be able and willing to pay the right player £150k a week, but i agree with you that it's unlikely to be a 30 year old rooney.

Yes, we could. He has a recall clause.

He's bang on form as well. Just scored this match-winning, Scholes-esque pearler against Las Palmas.

Yeh, I have seen a couple of nice goals he has scored in recent weeks. Apparently he is doing pretty well over there. I thought that I had read something a few weeks back about Jose considering recalling him, which is why I asked. Got to say that i liked the look of him and would be happy to see Rooney leave to make room for him.

Me too.

There was this cheeky little beauty against Espanyol in recent weeks:

And he got a goal and an assist (before getting sent off) against Betis I think it was last time out.
