Ranieri sacked

I hope they only have a caretaker in charge for our match.

If this is true then the decision won't have been taken after the Sevilla game - it'll have been taken after the shambles against Swansea.

I suspect the owners decided to give Ranieri the Champions League game (and by virtue the FA cup tie thrown in as well) as thanks for all he's done for us.

But we can't realistically afford to wait until the return game with Sevilla given the urgent need for Premier League points.

One of the saddest days for any Leicester fan and Claudio will always be a hero. But this season we've been clueless, heartless and brainless. No plan, no ideas, no passion.

Something had to give, and sadly it was only ever going to be the manager.

It doesn't matter how good Ranieri is and what he has done, that's it now, he's gone. They do need a Pulis/Allardyce or somebody capable of keeping their heads above water.

It's now 100% official. Club made statement.

BBC confirmed it, parted company.

Disgraceful. I hope they get relegated now. This is the most disgraceful managerial firing I have ever seen

Talksport have confirmed an LCFC statement. Sacked.

LCFC confirm it on twitter too. Why couldn't they have won yesterday so he stays for us to beat them on Monday?!

Now if they've parted company, does that mean he may also have gone to the board and resigned? Might have been his choice as much as the club's.

Craig Shakespeare and Mike Stowell are in charge for the time being.

They can't afford to get relegated from the PL. Ranieri regardless of last season is only dragging them down.

The money from the PL and the CL will have been invested into the club long term and short term, for them to lose both by getting relegated and knocked out would make a massive difference. They'd be turning out like Leeds, the owners financially can't take that risk.

Give Ranieri a statue and move on.

Agree it's a disgrace but as you can see most fans wanted him to stay, why do you therefore hope we go down?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Huth dude, nothing against you, but this is a matter of karma. The Lester board deserves relegation.

By putting the clubs affairs in front of the glory days? The decision is taken within the best interests of the club.

Lets face it, they've been poor all season, how long is the piece of string? How long do you leave it before you say enough is enough? Better now than next season a league below.

He earned invicincibily for a season after last year. At least one season of invincibility. If they ended up in the championship, so be it. It's a matter of loyalty and honour.

Football isn't like that these days, far from it. Eddie Howe said it best a few years ago, you're only ever six games away from the sack. Unfortunately for Ranieri, he's had far more than six games this season and they've been poor for the majority of the year.
