What's up with Divok?

He's a young player learning the game.

Young players have peaks and troughs.

Many fans always forget that in the troughs.

Fed up most probably. Not getting the game time

He's not a wide players for starters.

Technically he got 2 assists against Burnley so not all that bad. Can he go to Lukaku level is where I have my doubts.

So what's Pogba's excuse?

He was an injury doubt and didn't look fit to me. Certainly offered something against Arsenal though. He's never going to be and Henry but he'll be a good striker. His is now for his age.

Consistency is his issue. When he's not playing well, he looks like he's never played football in his life. When he's playing well, he looks like he can be a world beater.

We used to say the same about Sterling. Pretty certain Origi will progress with age and experience.

I have no qualms about Divock. He's been injured, he's on the way back ( he's probably had more game time than Daniel this season?). He appears totally committed to his future at the club. Mentioning Daniel, Divock doesn't have much, if any, competition for coming on as a striker, does he?

He's suffering from what we refer to as lack of consistency.

It's common case in young players.

He's seem like a nice fella but what I thought was rawness is now just looking like not good enough

He changed the game yesterday as Phil was pulling the strings and then he came on and did absolutely nothing

Oh do shut up.

There's plenty to defend him and not much to slate him for really. As said he clearly wasn't fit.

He assisted in his last two games prior to City and rarely comes on his his favoured central position but overall has made a good contribution this season. You won't find many better third choice strikers anyway.

So yeah you get a shut up I'm afraid.

I can promise you that we will continue to not challenge for titles with players like Divok - harsh but true

But if you're happy with him then great

posted on 20/3/17

You can't promise anything and yes I am happy to have young full internationals as third choice strikers. Can you name a better third choice at Chelsea? Even second choice?

No.

One thing is evident is that we need a proper number 9. Firmino works hard but doesn't score enough and also misses good chances.

Origi is still work in progress and Sturridge retired in 2013.

I'd say that's fair Kash. No idea who we'll get though and not sure where that will leave Firmino. Saying that we're top scorers I think and I reckon a wide forward is just as important a need.

Considering he was a doubt before the match yesterday I've not got a problem with his contribution when he came on. Like others have said he's young and his form will come in fits and starts. Too early to write him off IMO. He got an assist against Burnley and scored a few earlier in the season. He's a good option off the bench at the mo which is an area we are lacking.

Origi seems to lack self belief like Lukaku did a few years ago

If Origi, like Lukaku, starts to use his power and pace then he could be a good player but up until he does then he is not currently good enough.

That's the thing with young players. They go through phases. It's especially hard when you're in and out of the team and out of position. I've already had to admit I was wrong about him as when he's in a good phase you can see the huge potential. I didn't see it before.

IMO origi is a decent finihser i nand around the box and has a nice curler form the left side in his locker.

BUT my god he hasn't got a clue at all about body position or protecting the all or winning possession off a long ball etc. He won't learn that sat on our bench either.

I think personally I would like to see him lent out to prem team next year. theres a few clubs i think who would be grateful to take a striker like him even with a 75% games requirement in contract.
