We have zero fluency in attack, and I'm not sure it's because the players we have are just inadequate or whether it's because Jose chops and changes the line up so much.

Do we even have a defined best 11?

I have to say, I thought Pogba really underperformed. His composure and decision making in the final third is so poor at times. But he also shows moments of sheer class which makes it frustrating that he cannot be more consistent.

We won 3-0, but any other team in the top 4 would be putting 6 or 7 past that 10 man Sunderland team yesterday. They are dreadful.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How many 6/7 goal wins have there been this season? Can't remember any tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------

True.

But I can't remember a PL team that we've played recently as poor as that Sunderland one yesterday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was just bad timing

In the middle of a mental run of games and just before a crucial away game in Europe.

In the circumstances a 3-0 win was very good. Before the game I'm sure every fan would have been very happy with a 3-0 and no injuries before Thursday

That and Shaw playing well, Rashford and Micky getting goals and signs that Ibra is ready to Ibra the end of the season.

Bournemouth 6 - 1 hull
Liverpool 6–1 Watford
Everton 6–3 AFC Bournemouth
Chelsea 5–0 Everton
Tottenham Hotspur 5–0 Swansea City
West Ham United 1–5 Arsenal

Congratulations for padding that out with 50% of those being less than the required number I stated

Maybe I should have said away from home 😂

Sometimes it actually shocks me how naive some people are on here at times.

Results this season, across the board, not only ours shows that there are no easy games in the PL anymore.

Liverpool and Spurs both failed to take 3 points at the stadium of light this season.

to make top 4, we have to win our games in hand, which in return will help take care of the goal difference.
---------------------

I'd say it is naive to simply dismiss the importance of goal difference when it has cost us in the recent past.

I would also say that how Liverpool and Spurs did at The Stadium of Light is irrelevant. We played them at their lowest point; rock bottom with 1 win in 10 in the league. They are as good as relegated. We were already winning by 1 goal and they were down to 10 men with 50 minutes to go. It was a great opportunity to improve our goal difference.

If we do manage to win our games in hand that will improve our goal difference, but we have probably the hardest run in out of the teams around us. Most of the games are likely to be tight and probably a goal either way will decide them.

you can't remember any big wins this season but i gave you 3 teams who have scored 6 and one of them is Bournemouth ffs. you can say all you want robb but come end of season you will be the one creating 100 articles regarding how less we have scored this season if we don't win EL

sunderland have not conceded 5 in the league all season - they have shipped 4 at home to arsenal and southampton though.

but as poor as they are they don't tend to get spanked too often.

have to agree with dunc, i like a good moan as much as the next man, but if i found myself complaining that united only won 3-0 away from home, when they should have won 7-0, i might just ask myself why i bother to watch the team at all, because i'm clearly not getting any pleasure out of it.

As for yesterday I don't recall many clear cut chances created especially when they went down to 10. There were some dangerous moves ruined by sloppy final passes.
----------------
To me, they were clear cut chances... we were 2 v 1 both times, Zlatan fluffed his pass for what would have been 2 easy goals.

3+/- GD is nothing though, especially as we have to play (and beat) the two teams closest to us forthe fourth spot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Depends how you want to view it then

Job done no energy spent and we are fit and ready for the next game.

Or on the other hand we fluffed those goal scoring opportunities you cited through poor sloppy play wasting the energy used to create them missing a trick , against 10 men , to impact on our goal difference

Everyone would certainly have taken a 3-0 win before the game. But then we wouldn't have known that we'd be winning 1-0 with Sunderland down to 10 men around the 40 minute mark.

that's the thing you waste the energy to run and create this chance but at the last hurdle you seem too casual and fluff the scoring chance. why waste energy if you're going to be lazy with the final ball or wait till Sunderland get their players back. Yesterday too often i saw too many slow and sloppy passes

How many times have they been down to 10 men after 40 minutes and already losing 1-0?

You have to look at the game and its circumstances on its own. We were playing against bottom of the league and they are absolutely demoralized and down to 10 men. There isn't any better opportunity to improve your goal difference.

It's not as easy as that though

It's not like we were playing the ball around the back without a care in the world

We were trying to score, it just didn't happen. Jose brought on Rashford and Martial so he did want to score more. It just didn't happen but we still walk away with a good win

Anything other than that is just looking for reasons not to enjoy a good win before our biggest game of the season on Thursday

it's pointless arguing. some of them are happy we won 3-0 and happy the players didn't waste much energy but maybe it was only me and you watching the game because it seem like to me utd kept attacking but fluffed it when it mattered most. FFS rashford scored at the end

geez, that's a pretty narrow set of criteria elvis!

they appear to have had 3 reds this season, only one came "early" in a match, a 55th minutes dismissal in a 1-1 draw at bournemough (had forgotten that januzaj got dismissed in the last minute of their 1-0 defeat at spurs)

we know martial has not been a consistent starter so maybe mourinho wanted to protect micky. don't give me this sshitt he brought on martial and rashford for goals.

As I said, the win was certainly a positive. As I also said, I only saw the highlights and it didn't look like we really went after them, but accept that highlights don't give a true reflection of a performance. I was trying to gauge whether or not we went after them hard enough. My impression is that we didn't, but I would be wrong in that.

I didn't really want an answer. Just pointing out that you have to take the game on its individual merits. Before the game we'd have happily taken 3-0, but once they were down to 10 men, it is reasonable to hope that we might stick 5 past an utterly demoralized bottom of the table team.

We have had some really impressive wins against the top teams so far this season like the 1-0 win at home to Spurs, the single goal victory against Tottenham at Old Trafford, one nil at home to the north London whites, single goal triumph in Salford v Hotspurs, that’s just to name a few. There have been so many.

im happy we won but posters like you who say to save energy i mean wtf that does even mean. once we got the 2nd goal players were still attacking and if you're wasting your "energy" then facking score don't play stupid passes when you're 2 against 1 attacking. oh btw at 2-0 with a man advantage jose could have easily taken off micky, pogba and ibra and bought on rashford, martial and blind or TFM once we scored the second goal

posted on 10/4/17

No denying that goals were there for the taking and you could imagine what certain other sides would have done to them but 3 zip and injury free is a good result to move on to a very tough week which will show how we have or have not progressed.

posted on 10/4/17

There's no easy games in the PL yet we were able to coast through yesterday's game expending little energy against a reduced to 10 men relegation bound team.

When questions are asked about not getting more goals than we did one of the answers is that there are no easy games in the PL..😃

posted on 10/4/17

You seem very confused.

Missing a couple of chances was part of the "saving energy"... We were not going crazy to try and attack, but we naturally found ourselves getting chances due to the nature of the game and the fact that we were counter attacking... That fact that we didn;t take those chances is nothing to do with the fact that we were clearly staying in 1st gear.

Conserving energy doesn;t mean you just stop playing

Every team in every other league wins all of their games 5 or 6-0. In the prem, around 19 of the 20 teams lose every week. It’s that tough.
