You went all defensive when someone pointed out that RM & Barca bought themselves into such a strong position and as it's something United have been guilty of then they should be in the same position as the La Liga giants.

The article may not have been about United (or any other PL teams) but the organic nature of online forums has moved the article on.

Barcelona and Real Madrid WOULD have had more points than Chelsea if they hadn’t been able to play second string teams and lose games that they won easily with their second string but played their first string instead and lost by winning easily in a defeat and getting no points, easily.

Is it easy? Well in terms of trophies I'd argue that the only easier job is Bayern Munich - they don't even have a comparable rival.

Aside from trophies I don't think it's easy at all! The pressure associated with both roles makes things very challenging. There are newspapers dedicated to scrutinising your every move. The Presidents of both clubs (although more so RM) are renown for both signing players the manager doesn't necessarily want and then pressurising the manager to play certain players.

So essentially you're under a massive microscope when you don't necessarily have the ability to buy the players you want or play the players you want.

And then you have the egos. Player power at those clubs is insane and they could have you sacked at any moment.

So on top of the pressure, expectation, lack of control - you also are constantly at risk of by being undermined by the people you're supposed to be managing!

Honestly, I get why players want to be at RM/Barca but if I were a top manager I think I'd be far more inclined to work for a top EPL team. Or even better, Bayern.

Define 'easy'.

In 1932, Madrid won their maiden league title.

The manager was sacked because the football was deemed boring.

The bar for success is set higher at Madrid than anywhere else in the world.
