Venables and Robson did well but there were at Barca. Good first seasons but could not last.

Those two immediately sprang to mind. Also Chris Coleman did ok at Sociadad before falling out with the club president. But that's about it.

Real Madrid's first ever manager was English. Arthur Johnson, as per my username. Before becoming the club's first appointed coach, he was also our first every goalscorer in a competitive game.

I'm sure there were others if you go back to that period.

I had mentioned on another thread Granada have actually played okay in parts, but given they’ve only won 4 games all season, the damage was done long before Adams arrived.

He’s only there for seven games. Which is not really enough time to implement/bed in new ideals etc in an already struggling team.

Which is why I thought it was odd that Adams took the job in the first place.

In regard the training video it’s something called "pistons and shifts" which George Graham implemented back in the day at Arsenal.

Bonkers mind you but must have done some good, as they were arguably one of the best defensive units the league has ever seen.

To be fair to Adams, he was only ever minding the shop until they appoint a new manager in the summer. Granada were effectively relegated long before he took the helm.

That's not true though, it's the picture Sid Lowe's wanted to paint in The Guardian.

Granada were definitely still in with a fighting chance when he took over. Even just a record of 1W-1D-1L in his 3 games in charge would have them 3 points off 17th right now. Instead, they're 0-0-3, not a miserable goal scored and not even as many shots on target as goals they've conceded.

Loads. But only one was Madrid's first manager. First captain too, actually.

Toshack won the title in '89, if memory serves, his team becoming the first ever to break the 100-goal mark for a league season.

Robson won the Cup Winners' Cup with Barça, though it's considered that he underachieved given he had the most lethal version ever of Ronaldo.

Venables I think won it I think in '84 or '85, but he was never really that popular.

Why's he started talking all posh as well? It doesn't suit him.
