Shirts only sold for a fiver back then, now the average shirt is £1.25m. That's why we should pay 5 times what a player is worth as we'll make it all back in etc. bored.

What a great pair of signings they turned out to be eh?

"a stunning statement of their intent to retain the Premiership title next season by potentially taking their summer outlay beyond the £50m mark"

2007 was one of the best summer we had. But we had a lot of garbage transfer markets since then.

09 awful
11 awful.
Moyes - the worst
Lvg - bought a lot of crap.

Moyes wasn't backed. Van Gaal bought some good players but played a style of football that didn't suit flair players. Mourinho, similar to Van Gaal, has some good players but is far too negative for them to shine!

Since Ferguson left we have over spent and it's time for us to cut down and am sure the glazers will tighten up.

With Jose at the helm the opposite is more likely

Anderson makes a top 5 worst value for signings of all time at this club.

Nani to be fair contributed a hell of a lot more than he Ando did.

Hargreaves was also a disaster. And Tevez joined City.

Great summer eh?

to be fair to tevez fergie stiched him up

Goes to show about hype. Nani the new Ronaldo because he was Portugese and Anderson the new Ronaldinho because he came through the ranks at Gremio. Add a you tube clip of their only decent goals and suddenly they are world class.

No wonder football agents are making a killing with armchair managers suddenly becoming talent scouts and demanding their clubs sign the next over hyped kid. Time we all took a bit of responsibility in curving the money these agents make and that includes us fans

Hargo, Ando, Nani and tevez all helped us win the champions league and league! We've only one 3 in our history! Nani helped us win the title in 2011 and was a good player overall but not maximised.

I remember cleverson and Anderson tearing the City Midfield a new one. I remember Anderson holding his own against Gerrard and Fabregas in their pump. These players were not failures, they didn't live up to expectation, but they were not failures. If these guys were failures, what do you call this current bunch

Anderson was good in our double winning year.
Nani was on the whole a good player for us.
Tebet - couldn't care less where he went in his first season he was world class for us, one of fergie stupidest ever decisions was buying verbs who wasn't nearly as good as him.
Hargo - overall a waste but in that season he was very good for us.

Ando on the whole flopped, if someone has a couple of good season from 6 or so, they've flopped.

But his good seasons helped us achieve great things.

Also let's be honest, he did benefit from playing with Scholes in his early 30's, a young carrick etc.

Back then it was a lot of money. I remember how much hype these guys got and many bought it because of their exotic names

yes, the exocitism of the name "anderson" must have been quite a shock to the insular society of 2007 britain...no wonder the sheep swallowed the hype uncritically

fans can never quite seem to work it out, half the time they're saying english players are rubbish/overhyped/overpriced, the other half they're saying that if smith/jones were called smithinho/jonesinho we'd all be raving about them.

Nearly all English players are overhyped and overated. There fixed it for you.
