I love golf absolutely love it. Enjoy watching it more than football.

I play off 24 and don't get to play as often as I would like due to having a young child.

The best course I played is without a doubt the K club where the Ryder cup was played when we hosted it.

Suffice to say I was out there a while

I should have added VC on your board is a keen golfer.

An amusing story? All I will say is never head out for a round without a toilet role in your bag

Thankfully I've never actually had to sneak off to 'look for a ball', but I know a few who have.

Never played there but would like to, I played at the Belfry for a full weekend on a boys weekend which was lovely. Got stuck in a bunker there that was bigger than me, ruined a round by being stubborn and going direct over the highest part to get it near the pin

Playing off 16 again now, Mrs has been working lots of weekends which has brought my handicap down

Jacked in Sunday league football this season, so can guarantee every Sunday morning now plus the odd sneaky round after/during work.

As stated VC plays and I think Melton and great teams from our board plays also.

I'd like to play abroad more, but last time I did it I hired clubs over there rather than the hassle of taking my own and I instantly regretted it, played shiiiit all weekend.

That too

But it is different with a whole bag of strange Portuguese clubs.

I like to play a bit of par 3 as well, there are some lovely par 3 courses in Dublin /Wicklow.

Used to play a bit.

Don't have much appetite for the uptight

...Nature of sone if golf culture. That puts me off, but I did enjoy (of a fashion, can be very frustrating) a round or 5wo...

Yeah a nice par 3 is good, especially for improving on compared to the driving range.

The village I grew up in had a great little 9 hole pitch and putt that was free, council owned and was actually always kept really well. Was gutted when I heard it had been bulldozed and had an estate on it.

Yeah there is still an element to that in the clubs, some people use it as a dikk measuring contest or seem to be annoyed by beginners for some reason.

I do think that side of it is starting to be done away with though, maybe due to less and less clubs having full memberships and lots of people just going pay as you play etc.

Despise cants who think they own the course.

However slow players that don't allow you to play through risk a nine iron up the jacksy

...or you could find a course with a hole you could sneak on to, like we did when kids and play a round for free. That said don't do that anymore and pay as you play is the way to go.

On a side note: how much you guys pay for a round these days?

posted on 26/5/17

Morning Irish.

Yeah I remember sneaking on as kids.

Depends, couple of municipal courses near me are about £18 peak times/weekends or £9 after 3pm, then a few of the really nice courses a bit further out are around £35 peak or half that for twilight.

I'm thinking of re-joining where I used to be a member, roughly £50 a month but access to 3 (may even be 4) different courses around the area.

Depends on where you play Baz, you can pay as little as €15 for a round on a public course.

Then to play on a top notch private course the sky is the limit. Normally pay around 30-35 Euro and that would be a well maintained course.

I don't play as much as I would like but play from anything from an 14 to a 26.

I once had a back 9 in Myrtle Beach that read 4,8,4,8,4,8,4,8,4. My playing partner said I was the most psychotic golfer he had ever seen.

Keeps it interesting at least.

Afternoon VC well done on Wednesday night

Last week I shot 102 which was the first time over 100 in as long as I can remember.

Had a great front 9 too, then just lost it, few bad holes, got inside my head, overthinking every swing, couldn't do anything right at all.
