Really wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth in the Kieron Gibbs rumours......

Once we ship a few players out we will probably go for Robertson

Think we are waiting for Moreno to be sold. I'd rather give him a chance than Milner to be honest next season.

I also can't see us signing AOC or VVD.

Would be surprised if Liverpool wanted to deal with Aidy Ward again aftsr the whole Sterling saga a few years ago

I think Ghoulam is a decent shot at being our left back next season, him or Robertson it will be imo, still hold out a little hope something might happen with mendy though.

I think we'll sign AOC as well, I don't think we'll be able to get Keita across the line though, unfortunately, as he is a superb player.

AOC
Ghoulam
Salah
Solanke
Possibly a centre back

Will be our summer imo. The big thing is not losing anyone this summer, keep the squad and add quality, if we're going to be selling coutinho, can or firmino or any one of our other key members then it makes things difficult.

Gibbs hasn't cut the mustard at a joke of an Arsenal side so would be a poor signing. Robertson is also not up to Liverpool standard.

Milner will be our lb I suspect.

posted on 3/7/17

Yep, Milner as LB in the majority of games with Robertson or whoever replaces Moreno used in rotation or potentially against the bus parkers.

I really hope it isn't Milner but I do wonder if you're right robbing. Nothing against Milner at all but I'd rather see a left footed player there to give you a bit more balance.

Also tiddles I think it's inevitable we will sign a centre back but not VVD. I've seen us linked with De Vrij recently.

I hope we get AOC over the line but I just don't see Arsenal selling to us. If we got Keita, AOC, VVD and a decent left back it'd be a dream summer though.

Can anyone shed some light on this Milner contract clause? What's our penalty if he doesn't start enough games? It looks like we are hamstrung by this clause.

Klopp can't find him a role in midfield and the only place he can is left back.

He's still been a decent left back though.

I do think the LB issue will be addressed, as I certainly don't see Klopp wanting Milner their long term, but it's not the biggest deal in the world and if Jurgen cannot get someone who is guaranteed (as much as you can be in footy) to be better then he won't bother.

If Milner does start there then I am almost certain he has playing time written into his contract.

There is a quality LB at Southampton, you guys have a good relationship with them, why don't you try sign him?....

Do you mean Matt Targett? I'm really not convinced by Bertrand.

posted on 3/7/17

I'm not sure Bertrand is THAT much of an upgrade on Milner tbh.

I quite like Chilwell at Leicester as a young understudy. Tierney looks like he can play a bit.

posted on 3/7/17

Bertrand is a very solid and had a good season, would definitely improve your defence.

I don't rate Chilwell particularly highly, and he was poor in the U21 tournament.

Creswell would be another good signing, had a bad season but you can do a lot worse than him.

posted on 3/7/17

Creswell is a LFC fan as well. In fact I think we released him!

Yes Bertrand would improve us but for likely £40m I don't think he would enough.

posted on 3/7/17

I like Bertrand a lot, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Haven't seen enough of chilwell.

Cresswell has been decent when I've seen him but he's had a few injuries, not sure if he's injury prone but there's been a few for sure.

Tierney is supposed to be very good.

Mendy should still be top priority imo.

To be honest I don't understand this urgent need to replace a fullback who has scored 7 goals with 4 assists this season and who has comfortably (in my opinion) out performed his fellow fullback in Clyne (0 goals, 3 assists, 1 extra game) who to be honest is clueless going forward 95% of the time. At least Milner beats players now and again and puts in a decent ball. I believe RB is a bigger problem especially against teams that sit deep. Maybe I'm being harsh? Am I the only person who thinks this?

Full backs are such a boring signing I know we need one but hard to get anyway excited by a potential left back.

No you make fair points and overall Milner has done well, my concern is he struggles to beat a player on the touchline and then usually has to cut back in on his right making us narrow and allowing the opposition to get back into a better defensive position.

He rarley gets to the by line to pull a ball back on his left foot and while he can cross a ball on his left he does ten to pull it back on his right.

Also a natural left footed winger with pace gives him trouble as often he is off balance when they run directly at him.

But you're right he certainly outperformed Clyne offensivley last season ( I actually think Clyne is poor n the final 3rd).

I like the sound of a young left back to come in and rotate with Milner, really should be Moreno but Klopp must have no time for him as he barley got a kick in the last few months when Milner was in desperate need of a break.

7 goals is the definition of manipulating stats. They were 7 penalties, which aren't representitive of any attacking threat.

We have dealt with him since then with no problems apparently.

Clyne was poor last season, I guess the thing with him though is A) he has shown he has real quality and B) we have TAA who will push him/possibly usurp him this season.

We need someone to replace/challenge Milner for the left back spot.

posted on 3/7/17

I thought Clyne was very good in the first half of the season and built up a good understanding with Mane.

All about partnerships innit.
