I don't think the CL playoff will have that much of an effect. I think that now players are returning to their clubs things will pick up.

You're not actually in the CL proper yet either. Maybe that could be holding up deals. Could you imagine spending £150m and getting an awkward knock out tie and go out before the group stage. It's not unthinkable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If this is a factor don't think it'd be the money but rather players would want to see if we're actually in the cl before agreeing to come.
When is the CL qualifying game?
Maybe that will decide targets
Yeah progressing in the CL is not the big headache for accountants like it used to be because the PL makes so much money.
We also have the extra revenue from stadium expansion and in the coming weeks we will see what shirt deals have been negotiated as this is the final year of both Standard Charted and New Balance. (not 100% correct on New Balance).
My thoughts were that CL football would be a much bigger draw than the EL for the top players.
You don't want to end up signing players like Rooney if you miss out on CL.
Remember when, back in the long distant past, the first inkling we got that the club was even thinking of buying anyone was when that player was paraded, in Red, at Anfield, photos of contracts being signed, etc.,
Oh for those happy days.
Jurgen has used one word to sum up the whole gig: PATIENCE.
He know who he wants, the alternatives, the difficulties with all other parties, Press speculation.
Let's wait and see who he gets.

As always think that what you have replied is spot on Jimmy. Personally would like to see VVD and Naby Keita, plus James Rodriguez, part of the jobs done
Apparently we've turned down James Rodriguez and rightly so if you ask me. We don't need anyone in that position and certainly not for £60m+
Been widely mooted that Klopp is willing to be patient this window to ensure we get quality, not quantity.
Sure it's frustrating, we would ideally have liked to get most our signings in for the start of pre season but it's not always that simple.
If waiting until very late window gets us one of VVD or Keita then it will be worth it, we've got to be thinking long term rather than just the first few games of the season.
Of course, there's always the possibility we risk that and get none of our main targets late in the window and we find ourselves upshit creek, let's hope it doesn't come to that though.

If past history is anything to go by we'll fail to get our targets and then panic buy which is how Carroll and Benteke ended up wasting their time and our money.
As I said on another thread, a signing could well come out of the blue like Wijnaldum and Firmino. Plus I'm pretty sure we will have a plan of when to move on to backup targets if we are making no progress with our top targets.

Don't think Carroll was either.
We had scouted him for a while and were planning on going for him that summer but brought it forward.
I don't think Klopp is a panic buy type anyway.
I think he would rather not buy anyone than buy someone he doesn't really want.
