My issues with Matic

Fabinho is the ideal signing as he's quality in two areas that we are lacking depth and quality really.

Matic is poor and aging.

No brainer.

Agree with a lot of points.

But I don't think we need more pace, not from our DM anyway.

We have lots of pace in attack and wide areas. We can certainly cause problems on the counter.

So we could do with someone comfortable with the ball, a decent passer to help those counters get started. That player is not Matic, the others mentioned are far more suitable. And added pace can only help surely?

I do think Schneiderlin should have got more of a chance. He barely got one under LVG, he literally got none under Mou. He was average-gash when ever he did play though.

I wanted us to bin carrick and get in someone younger who could take the DM role for a decade - with backup from blind/herrera/TFM etc - but instead we keep the guy about to turn 36 and look to sign the guy about to turn 29.

and for £50m? really? at least with walker city could say that they are buying the best RB in the PL, with matic he's not even the best defensive midfielder in england, let alone a top quality one on a european/global basis.

We relied on Carrick starting attacks from deep as our DM because we've had such a shiiit midfield for years generally, Clevery, Fletcher, Anderson.

If Matic can do the defensive side of Carricks game as well as he has for the last few years, intercept passes, offer himself for an easy ball from defence and then get it out wide or to Herrera or Pogba, who are always showing for the ball, then it can be a strong midfield 3.

Chelsea won the league with Matic and Kante, with Moses and Alonso out wide.

Leicester won it with Drinkwater starting every game for them.

Liverpool finished above us with Henderson, Can and Lucas/Lallana.

Arsenal finished above us with no decent CM.

Matic
Herrera Pogba

If our attacking players do their jobs and find some kind of balance and link up well then that midfield is good enough.

He's not my first choice by a long way, is rather have Dier even, but I won't cry about it, I can see what he'd be able to bring.

I'm easier games we may see Herrera and Pogba with Mkhi or Mata in front like we have in pre season.

Calm down.

4. Why are Chelsea so keen to get rid if he's good enough to take us to the next level?
____________
Why do people think this is a valid point? Always assume because a player leaves a top club hes no longer good enough for another top club?

If he can perform that job to a good standard he might be a good edition. Pogba is awful at that side of the game, so allowing him to concentrate on attacking play is what matic could help bring to the team, and it may prove a shrewd move yet....but at 50m

I understand what you're saying. Let's sign Kante

I'm not a fan of Matic and the reported 50mill is over the top, we need a DM with some pace.

Matic and Renato on loan with Fellaini booted out the club and I'll be somewhat happy.

Fellaini is going nowhere as I am certain Jose got him in his plans - will never let him go...

now this isn't saying Matic is a poor player but

He is.

He's garbage, would love you lot to sign him & great business if we get anything over 30m

posted on 21/7/17

When matic first returned to chelsea having been sold he looked every inch the missing piece of their squad puzzle, but more recently he has struggled to replicate his best form.

Last time I saw him when he failed to exert his authority on the match against Arsenal FA in Cup final

Slow, overpriced, and deteriorating 28 years old.

Honestly, this would be the worst signing of the window. And for 50 facking million quid as well, Jose is moaning about clubs pricing United out of signings yet he possibly thinks this is some sort of value?

Would rather resign Schneiderlin than spunk £50m on Matic

This.

Would rather keep the money and wait for a better player to come onto the market.

agreed...i can understand overpaying for pogba, if he was available, and the only way to beat other clubs to his signature was to pay a silly fee, so be it.

but matic for £50m doesn't exactly constitute the chance of a lifetime.
