Yeah I'm pretty positive it's Ramos. Remember Zidane saying that about him just before the Champions league final.

Yes!

I would love to include that in a list of Zidane quotes. Liverpool fans probably get peed off enough as it is with his Scholes one.

MBAPPÉ, to the question of @10JoseAlvarez about his FUTURE: "I am certain that I am going to finish the year here and then we will see".

Ed is getting a hard on as we speak, as is Big Flo.

Going well.

I think we might stumble against Arsenal though.

We've never been behind and we've not yet had anybody equalise against us under Ole so it'll be interesting to see how we respond to those situations.

They might never happen again.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised, TRS. Though I’d hope we cause Arsenal’s back four more problems than Chelsea did.

Don’t know if you saw the article where merry is already criticising the team for the drop off in intesnity. Calling the players lazy. Told you it’ll happen.

You'd like to think we would even if Ole makes a few changes. Chelsea just look awfully blunt in attack at the moment and it's not just down to Hazard playing where he is.

Yeah I've just read it and your last comment.

Yeah they’ve looked very flat recently. I think the striker issue detracts a lot from the other problems in the team. Sure getting Hazard back in his best position and having a goal threat up front will help, and it should be enough for them to win the games needed for top four, because Hazard is amazing. But the lack of threat out wide from the full backs and other wingers is an issue as well. And then there are the issues in the middle - Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic aren’t creative or a big goal threat.

See Sarri’s meltdown yesterday? It was like watching Mouriho.

I was honestly confused by that comment from Merry, he was a staunch Jose critic too.

I thought exactly that. He needs to be careful although tbf to him he did blame himself in his post-match PC.

What Sarri wants is going to require some patience from Chelsea's board and fans I feel. Whether he gets it is another matter but if he does, it could be well worth it for them.

Problem is this group of players have a history of downing tools, so there’s a worry for Chelsea that they will again after being slated like that. Bare in mind, a lot of these players have won two league titles. Sarri hasn’t won a bean. And they’ve turned on serial trophy winners like Conte and Mourinho already. It’s a precarious position for them right now, especially with us breathing down their neck.

I think the battle for top 4 is between you and Arsenal. Sarri's meltdown yesterday will make things worse and difficult for him.

With Hazard gone next summer, it'll be even more of difficult task for him next season. Hope the board stick with him though, sell/release the deadwood (DW, Moses, Bakayoko, Willian, Pedro, Zappacosta, Giroud, Morata and possibly Alonso) and replace them with players who fit his style of play. I know this is easier said than done, but that's what they need to do if the clubs wants to remain competitive.

posted on 20/1/19

I still think Hazard has enough about him to carry Chelsea to 4th. A lot depends on the cups. Especially as Sarri doesn’t rotate much. Hopefully that facks you up. That and his meltdown.

posted on 20/1/19

Yeah, think the club probably recognized this as weakness of Sarri before they signed him tbf. One of the criticism levied upon him whilst at Napoli was that he didn't rotate, which probably costed him the title.
You could sort of make excuses due to the lack of squad depth whilst at Napoli, but at Chelsea he has a better squad depth and there are no excuses for him not to rotate.

His persistence with playing under performing players Willian and Alonso etc.. whilst there are better options in the bench, enforce the view that he doesn't like rotating players

Anyone think Spurs could be drawn into it?

It's going to be interesting to see how they manage this period without Kane and Son.

posted on 20/1/19

Spurs have that resilience about them, which they didn't before, sure Kane is going to be a big miss for them, but they could still win a game by being very solid defensively

Yeah that’s a problem. I think his stubbornness and commitment to his ideology could be his undoing at Chelsea. He hasn’t got the squad needed and I dunno whether Chelsea will have the patience to see it through.

I think Spurs should be ok. Their defence isn’t that solid anymore, but they’ve got enough goals from midfield to overwhelm the small teams even in the absence of Kane, and especially when Son is back.

Yeah and physically they're better equipped to cope with the latter part of the season.

They'll surely finish in the top 4 but I just have a sneaky feeling 3rd place could be up for grabs.

Fail to win today and the gap is 1-2 points between 3rd and 4th and ourselves and Arsenal aren't far behind.

This season is actually shaping up quite nicely as things stand. There could still be a lot to play for come April/May.
