I don't see it really. Quite a few btl Barça fans think he's anti-Barça too. I think he's just a good journalist who does pretty well to put his own preferences aside, understands the idiosyncracies of Spanish football and how it links to the wider culture, and tries to report as much as possible on what goes on in Spanish footy outside the big 2.

If you haven't read it, I strongly recommend Fear and Loathing in La Liga. It's a history of the Madrid-Barça rivalry that very much takes a neutral stance and makes the effort to dispel a few of the commonly-accepted myths surrounding it. It's very well researched. You can tell he's a historian.

Its main drawback, imo, is that it portrays the Pep-José era as the end of days, but I imagine that was kind of inevitable given that's when it was written and both sides were amazingly strong.
