Spurs’ big money signings have a habit of underwhelming. Lol Celso has been average as well.

I feel a little sorry for Lo Celso in the sense that he has basically come in as a Dembele replacement and all he is asked to do usually is make tackles and progress the ball up the pitch. He was really good for a few months at the start of the year but I thought was a bit disappointing in lockdown

Wasn’t he a Eriksen replacement? Which was why you were looking at Bruno as well. He played as an attacking midfielder for Betis, scoring and assisting.

Arsenal making 55 redundancies so they can pay Willian £150k a week.

He was meant to be, with Ndombele being the Dembele one. He has played deep throughout though, usually in the pivot in a 4231 or sometimes in a 433. His role has been way more as an 8 than a CM.

In the return he has actually provided more final third output than before but I think been poorer.

Was about to post this. As much as I hate the incessant need to shiiiiiit on players this is poor.

What is even poorer is the redundancies will save £2m estimated a year. They got £3.6m for winning the FA cup and the Europa qualifying is worth £40m. Also their owner is worth $8.2b.

I don’t think Poch helped things with the diamond. Seemed like he was trying to squeeze him, Nonkele and Alli into the same team but lacked the other pieces in defence and midfield to make it work.

It’s a really bad look for Arsenal. I don’t know all the ins and outs of their finances, but I’m sure more could have been done to save these people’s jobs.

Ndonkele clearly has talent, but mourinho ain't got time for that.

Yeah, poor from kroenke. We really are not the classenal any more.

Most of our players took wage cuts, I find it hard to be mad at them. Better to put it all on kroenke

It’s pretty funny with Spurs how the last two seasons of dumb formations and Sissoko wouldn’t happen if we spent even a little bit on a facking DM

I was always more impressed by Aouar from the little I’d seen of Lyon. I don’t think it helps that Spurs don’t want to play 433 as their main formation.

Dele Alli complicates matters. I’m not really a fan but he fits a Mourinho team far better. Lol Celso looks comfortable playing as a central midfielder in the 4231 that Mourinho wants to use.

Pogba’s obviously a better player, but it’s a similar situation to what Mourinho had with him at United with him not being the ideal fit for his midfield. Though he did change things around quite a bit to accommodate him at times. And we didn’t have an attacking midfielder that would do the donkey work like Alli - Herrera had been moved into a deeper position by that point and didn’t provide enough in attack.

I actually think Alli is probably the casualty of our team now and would be the one to move on, despite the fact I’m a fan. I’m not really sure what Jose wants but he just isn’t a 433 player and we seem to have adopted that over the last few months.

We’ve usually been doing in our recent games a midfield trio of:
Lo celso Winks Sissoko

Where Winks and Sissoko have been doing the combined role of one job.

Alli will start most games as the attacking mid when everyone is fit. He’s Mourinho’s ideal attacking mid - he’s a bit like Oscar but can actually contribute in attack.

I don’t think Mourinho will change things around as much next season when he’s got everyone fit.

So what, something like:

Kane
Son Alli Moura
Hojbjerg Lo Celso

posted on 5/8/20

Alli’s issue isn’t he came into the league as a reasonable midfielder but hasn’t progressed in that aspect at all really. His game has developed greatly as a second striker - but with our midfield problems the last two years has barely played near the striker bar that purple patch over Christmas.

His skill set is really unique and if you have a team that can afford a player like him then he is so good, but we have too many holes in our squad as it is.

That’s exactly the front six I think you’ll regularly play. Alli’s height and strength in the air will be important as well. And he obviously has a good understanding with Kane.

Obviously everyone will be expected to defend, but it seems likely that Kane, Son and Alli will be the players he’ll build your attack around. Moura as the second right back.

Bale not even in the squad for the City match

Hardly surprising when you read how he treated the tenants who'd lived for generations on one of the massive ranches he acquired.

It’s a sign of the times. More tough times to come, I’m dreading the damage we’ll see when the furlough scheme is ended.

Hope sancho signs for United so I don’t have to see that trash dan James stinking the place up.

Yeah Moura is so weird, actually been good for the first time in his spurs career under Jose but it’s basically been as a defensive winger.
