Franny Jeffers was a bargin at 11 million pounds. If Neymar can go for nearly £200m today, I reckon Arsenal would need to go up to £11,000,000.01 for a player like Jeffers today.

What have Dundee United fans got to do with it?

Rupert Murdoch killed football. That's where it lies. That old manipulative cant.

Trace the mad spending started with higuain and pogba- two non world class players going for world class fees. Snowballed from there.

why are liverpool fans so obsessed with Arsenal? this article has nothing to do with us yet you still mention Arsenal. if anything, Arsenal have tried to save football

Paying £11m for Franny Jeffery in 2001 is akin to paying £75 - 90m in today's market.

So yes Arsenal have a share of the blame, although to be fair he did score 4 goals for them.

looks like the OP was born yesterday or he has a total lack of knoweledge of footy, especially about the club he claims to support

The truth is we're all complicit.

We all bought into the Sky dream. We all wanted more football on tv. We were all willing to pay for it. We didn't care if the games were moved to Sunday. Or Monday. Or Friday. Or lunchtime. Or tea-time.

We all got seduced into wanting sexy foreign players coming to our leagues. We all started to prefer them over our own young players. And we wanted more of them, as many as we could get, because they were better, weren't they?

We all lost our patience. How we used to mock La Liga for its high turnover of managers, but now we all want the manager sacked for 'only' winning the FA Cup or for losing 3 games in a row.

We all demand success. Right now. And we want the club to pay for it. Just look at how Spurs are slaughtered for not joining in the ridiculousness of this transfer window.

So no, Man Utd, City, Chelsea or even Neymar didn't kill football. We did. Because we wanted it and were complicit in everything that has changed the game.

Arsenal have to share the blame for killing football along with many clubs in the PL and the PL itself.

What is more certain is that Arsenal have killed the real football fan.

Football isn't dead, it's getting bigger and more global now which brings more money in the game, that's all.

But the money is only going to the elite.

We've entered the era of the Superclub.

The rest of football is being left by the wayside.
