The Spanish newspapers have caught a load of whoppers with this story
It's all boll*cks....
If coutinho isn't unveiled at the nou camp on Friday, I ain't taking any notice of all these sources and reports....
The Echo and Melissa reddy of goal.com seem to have their finger on the pulse from what I've been told.
What if the same deal is made with Phillipe as was with Suarez, ie; stays for this season then goes to Barca, I personally would not mind this only because if he goes now I do not think we will get someone of his calibre, I think he is a wonderful player. We can still demand the same out money next year.
You should bite their hand off for 90m.
Taking your bias away for a second.....do you honestly think he's a £100m player?
Eric.....its irrelevant. We are 3 days away from the seasons start and coutinho has played most of pre season as part of our attack.
The football side is more important than the financial side to us at this time. Couts stays and coukd help us say win the prem or get top 4 again plus get further in europe this season.
We would gain far more in football terms than £100M would ever get us. And besides, we can probably earn close to £100M by going far in the CL and finishing high up.in the league AND the message it sends out is LFC are serious about creating a top side, we dont sell just because ur barca or madrid.

Most fans would accept that outcome. Now it's too late for him to move. We won't find a decent replacement now. Buy someone early next summer to replace him and avoid paying over the odds with clubs knowing we have 100m in the bank.

Your club has set the going rate.
If the inferior Pogba was purchased for 90m then the superior Coutinho should be sold for more. Factor in the amount of time left on his contract and the money barca have at their disposal then it would be foolish to sell for less than 100m.
I believe it would be foolish to sell in this window at all. The quick financial gain would be wiped out if we weaken the team for next season and fail to reach the CL.

Genuinely I have no idea of value in today's market because it's moving too quickly and as such relativity is almost impossible.
All I know is that Liverpool don't need the money and can't replace him with the time left in the window. That's if we're even able to attract someone of near equal ability at all. If we can keep him then we should.

The inferior Pogba has won a lot.more and done a lot more in the game than Coutinho has. He's also a far bigger name which obviously increases the price.
We know we overpaid for him. I don't think Coutinho is as good as you lot think. He blows hit and cold too. Nowhere near as good as Suarez was for you.
I remember when Liverpool fans said Fernando Torres wasn't for sale. Everyone has their price.
<sigh> let's not pretend what you've won impacts ability of a player and therefore their value. If it did then no player outside of Munich would be worth a thing in Germany.
Pogba cost a lot because (a) Juve didn't need to sell and are a wealthy club, (b) Utd are super-rich and (c) Pogba's age and potential.
All the above - ditto Coutinho.
Anyway Pogba isn't a far comparison because you'll make all of that back selling dabbing pencil cases in Asia.
And no he's not as good as Suarez. Not even close.
But it comes back to the fast moving market. £75m for Suarez looked fair a few years ago. Now it seems like a bargain. The markets moved. Lukaku cost the same for goodness sake.
Rather dabbing pencil cases than slippy Steve bananas.
28 years this time boys. Tick tock.
They value him at less than half of Neymar.
No chance should they let him go at this stage for any less than 150m.
If Coutinho is the difference between getting top 4/challenging for the title and not then he is definitely worth 100m+

Nowhere near your 44 year drought
To sell Couts, two days before kick off, no matter who he plays for, would be utter madness. Were he a United player I would be saying exactly the same.
The English PL dominates, not because of the skill of players, but because of the cash it attracts. The days of the big clubs dictating what's going to happen, transfer-wise, are at an end. Look no further than us with Soton over VvD.
They could actually afford, in money terms, to have him sit on his Harris for the whole season. That's life today in the PL.
Couts behaviour since this whole circus exploded onto the scene has been describes as 'impeccable' by club sources; the same for his agent.
There nothing to stop another club speaking to a player's agent. There's nothing to stop him/her listening to their suggestions, that's life.
But the circus rolls on. Who will take the Spanish Press to task? Who at Barca, if anyone, has been briefing them? What answer to the charge of making it up as they go along will they give?
Don't hold yer breath.
