He's ridden off the back of that goal against QPR 5 years ago for too long imo.

Admittedly I don't watch him every week, but from what I see on telly he's still terrific.

Rumours went round that he's not the best trainer, maybe he got away with that more when he was the main man (or maybe that's bolox too, people make up a lot of crap about city and United players)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's just had his highest scoring season ever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
and everyone likes him because he's dead honest on the pitch as well. Great player. Would love to know what's in Guardiola's head about him though.

Did you read the article and look a the stat that shows his converting fewer chances than he's expected too... And has by far the worst conversion ratio of any of the top PL goalscorers??

Kun is not nearly as lethal as he used to be and it's been quite clear from watching him. Last season was particularly bad with the misses.

I'm not surprised he was dropped at all (especially for an in form player)... and the numbers justify it too. That's probably what's in Pep's head.

He's far from deadwood though

Kane is better than Lukaku. Conclusive.

Don't think anyone in their right mind would have been debating this anyway....

Believe me there are some that have been.

Hafi will, he'll write a 10,000 word thesis based on the pre-season games.

Sergios second half to last season was the best I've seen him.

I can still have either Aguero or Jesus in my FF team and can't choose

On our end it's interesting that despite all our supposed missed chances for which Zlat was often a major culprit. His ratio is not all that bad.
______________

That's why I spent so much time defending him from unfair criticism last season.

There is one skill this doesn't measure however, and that is the ability of a striker to find space, and predicting where the ball will be.

If you judge these numbers as is, you don't give the striker any credit for helping to create the chance x

X - fair point.

---------
It does, in the sense that players who take up good positions often will naturally have a higher cumulative xG

Yes, but the article and everyone commenting seems to mistakenly believe that it only indicates the creativity of a team, as if you could separate that from the skilss to which I referred x
