Chelsea was a club with millions pumped into it to try and win things when Drogba was there, and still is. He isn't going to be able to score in big finals playing in a team without those advantages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It just isn't the same. Do you have any idea how many trophies Drogbas goals won Chelsea? He was so good in those big occasions, it was inhuman almost
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah we know he's a big game player. I'm saying that being in those Chelsea teams has enabled him to reach as many finals as he has, whereas for someone like Kane, not as much, at least not so far. That may change.
If we were picking our best XI for a cup game you might put him in, but this is just the best of the PL in general, and Drogba had a few PL seasons where he wasn't up to much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
and I'm telling you those season where he wasn't up to much were because he wa out of the team because of bad management. You don't actually know what you're talking about.
would have pires over giggs that's for sure.
But omitted ronaldo I believe for longevity. It's tough.
Maybe drogba at LW?

What?
For a start we haven't had "money pumped in" since 2006, and are you really saying it's impossible to score or do well on the big occasion's without expensive player's around them? i guess Diego Godin and Jamie Vardy failed to read the script.

Our net spend ever since 2007 has been relatively low, and when i say relatively i mean compared to the big giants and how people think we spend (for some reason people think we still go nuts and throw money about like we did in Roman's first 3 years, which just simply isn't true).
Of Course it's helped, but many reason's we have got to those finals is Drogba, before factoring in what he did in them, he won a lot of semi's as well, for example, we looked hopeless vs you lot in 2012 until he spun Gallas out of nothing and fired a screamer past Cudicini.

He was, but so was all of them in there respective prime's.
I remember Giggs himself was asked how Hazard would have fitted into the United 99 side and he said Eden would have got a free role while the other winger (which would be him or Beckham) would have done the donkey work to compensate.
Although having said that Fergie would have probably changed formation. No way could he have left any of Giggs, Beckham or Hazard out.

Never mind the net spend, you've been attracting top draw players and managers most seasons, the like of which Spurs can't hope to do or rarely do. Drogba has been as much a benefit of that as the club have a benefit of him. Hence why Chelsea have still reached finals and won silverware in Drogba's poorer league seasons.

I doubt he's been reduced to a couple of minutes here and there in those seasons. More likely to be chunks of matches when he hasn't been starting. I could be wrong. Don't know where you'd find the stats to show how many minutes he's played in seasons dating back that far.

Consistent enough for you?"
This was in 2012
Wow, a stat 5 years out of date. And one that excludes many of the true options for this PL 25 Year XI like Aguero, Suarez, van Nistelrooy and Kane in favour of journeymen like Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Emile Heskey, Dion Dublin.
No, it isn't consistent enough, it is not close to the consistency of the likes of Henry, Aguero, Suarez, van Nistelrooy or even Shearer.
You know Suarez wasn't prolific in his first one and a half seasons in England either
Drogba was one of the best. You'd think an arsenal fans who's never seen a player tear them apart repeatedly like Drogba did (not aguero, not van nistelrooy, not Shearer, none of them) would have appreciation for how good he was of all people.
You know Suarez wasn't prolific in his first one and a half seasons in England either
====
11, 23, 31.
Drogba only bettered Suarez worst 3 times in 8 seasons.
Oh, Arsenal are the be all and end all? I have already highlighted Drogba's lack of goals against the top teams apart from Arsenal, whereas the others were all prolific against most of the top teams.

Of Course it's helped, but many reason's we have got to those finals is Drogba, before factoring in what he did in them, he won a lot of semi's as well, for example, we looked hopeless vs you lot in 2012 until he spun Gallas out of nothing and fired a screamer past Cudicini.

Drogba was much more than goals. He's probably the striker I would least like to play against.

would have pires over giggs that's for sure.
But omitted ronaldo I believe for longevity. It's tough.
Maybe drogba at LW?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pires, Zola, Ronaldo, Hazard i would say at there absolute best all trump Giggs.
But Giggs obviously cains all of them in terms of longevity, so i guess its horses for courses.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RM giggs was unplayable in the early 90s for a few years mate. But agree with most of that

Kane is not a big game player. Tottenham would have won trophies by now if he was.
Look at how Kane performed in the CL last year and compare it to Drogba in 2012.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scored against Chelsea in the semi last season. Has a very good record vs Arsenal, like Drogba.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not buying it, that should lead to figures like 5 goals in 24, or 12 in 29.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
5 goals in 24? And is 12 in 29 starts? Because I don't think so...

What?
For a start we haven't had "money pumped in" since 2006, and are you really saying it's impossible to score or do well on the big occasion's without expensive player's around them?i guess Diego Godin and Jamie Vardy failed to read the script.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea spend tonnes on new personnel every year don't they?
I'm comparing to Kane in this Spurs team who aren't going as all out to win things as Chelsea do, when it comes to spending in bringing in big players.
You don't think that's helped Chelsea reach as many finals as they have over the years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Never mind the net spend, you've been attracting top draw players and managers most seasons, the like of which Spurs can't hope to do or rarely do. Drogba has been as much a benefit of that as the club have a benefit of him. Hence why Chelsea have still reached finals and won silverware in Drogba's poorer league seasons.

I doubt he's been reduced to a couple of minutes here and there in those seasons. More likely to be chunks of matches when he hasn't been starting. I could be wrong. Don't know where you'd find the stats to show how many minutes he's played in seasons dating back that far.

166:47 - Of the 22 players to have scored 100 or more PL goals, Didier Drogba had the fifth best mins per goal ratio (166:47). Hero.

11, 23, 31.
Drogba only bettered Suarez worst 3 times in 8 seasons.
Oh, Arsenal are the be all and end all? I have already highlighted Drogba's lack of goals against the top teams apart from Arsenal, whereas the others were all prolific against most of the top teams.
