The Positives From Yesterday

hhhmmmnn pretty fair assessment thou I wouldn't go as far as saying 'by far' the better team.

Kane was very good yesterday. Rudiger in an accomplished defender and he was given the runaround by Kane at times. He worked very hard, held the ball up, made runs and got his shots off. Unlucky not to score again.

I have lost count the number of times I hear fans say "we were by far the better team" after they have been beaten by Chelsea.

It illustrates some fan's inability to see the game holistically and their myopia via partizanship.

Chelsea are good at being 2nd best and winning still winning, sign of champions.

Can't remember last time Spurs were outplayed yet got the 3 points

Chelsea deserved the win yesterday. Morata missed a chance with a header where things could have been worse. They know how to play at wembley

Maybe on previous occasions this comment is not valid. But I think it's valid in respect of yesterday's game.

Chelsea were very defensive and scored from their only two shots on target. Teams will not win many games by only having two shots on target for 90 minutes. We dominated every other area of the game. The statistics show this clearly.

Yes Chelsea were very defensive and they defended superbly well. Defending is a vital part of football.

Do you think Spurs defended as well as Chelsea yesterday?

Morata missed a sitter and we hit the post. Spurs maybe created one more clear chance than us in the match. Even Arsenal fans have finally realised that winning the possession stats is meaningless.

Spurs fans shd be realising that now that teams good enough to win the title are able to win games in
different ways and styles.

Instead of moaning about Chelsea you shd be thinking that Spurs need to me more like them, be adaptable and g4ind out results.

You guys defended really well. David Luiz was immense in a DM role, although he made an annoying amount of clever fouls.

----------------------------------------------------------------------No one is moaning about Chelsea. My article is about the positives in Spurs' performance. The facts are clear. We played well and were very unfortunate to lose that game. I think if we continue to play like that we'll win many games...even at Wembley.

I blame Dier and Wanyama for our defending.

Trippier clearly wasnt fit, Wanyama was really poor and didn't do the job as well as Luiz for Chelsea.

Dier couldn't make his mind up where he was playing. In midfield he was just lost and imo should have just sat in a back 3 like last season. He isn't good enough on the ball.

Wanyama and Trippier probably not fit

we play Burnley next at home, good chance to put a few in against them in a comfortable win. anything less there will be question marks

We were by far the better team overall

Don't agree here, we should have been 2-0 early doors, only looked good because we had loads of possession.

it really annoys me when we rush a player back from injury before they are fit. If Trippier was only 60 - 70% fit, don't play him, cos he'll only be able to give you a 60 - 70% performance.

KWP did enough against newcastle to be a viable option yesterday.

We was awful for the first 35 mins then finished first half strong.

Obvious second half Chelsea plan was to sit back a break quickly which the did perfectly.

We had no pace and was pretty predictable build up play

It was just like to FA Cup SF.

We dominated most areas of the game, Created chances but were not clinical enough, chelsea sat back for large parts of the game and defended very well and in number. They were gifted a goal and scored an unstoppable effort, from 2 of their few good chances. We didnt deserve to lose but I am a bit tired of saying this in big games and vs CFC in particular.

Positives are that I dont see Wembley as being an issue, may be in the games were pacey attacking teams like LFC. On another day we would have drawn or won that game comfortably

We played well, shame about the result. Wouldn't want to see us sitting deep and avoiding the ball unless we're up against someone like Barca or Bayern so I'll take it as a compliment that rivals are prepared to do that to us now.

I don't think you can fully say Wembley didn't affect our performance. Maybe it affected Wanyama's performance, who was unusually poor and kept giving the ball away?

The fact is that this season and last season we've played 30 home games in all competitions and lost 4 of them, and all 4 have come at Wembley. It has up to now taken something out of us, even if we played reasonably well yesterday.

KWP has made 1 appearance against a limited and negative Newcastle side. Hardly a true barometer.

Agreed, but he wasn't out of his depth, and Trippier clearly wasn't fit enough yesterday.

I'd rather have a fully fit KWP - even if he isnt as good, and even if he ended up having a bad game - than a half fit Trippier.

Or maybe a new signing RB of similar quality to the player we sold...
