6.5 out of 10 as things stand. if llorente comes in and scores goals then it becomes a 7 out of 10.

we still lack creative help for eriksen and badly need a direct pacey attacking option to stretch teams. we have son but he runs in behind rather than runs with the ball.

we do have Nkoudou who you could argue is that player, but as poch never uses him it is literally pointless having him in the squad

100% agree. As good as Kane, Eriksen & Dele have all been over the past 2 seasons, they have all had dips in form and are picked regardless. Happy with the window overall, Barkley would have been a bonus but a wide/attacking player with pace who can deliver a good cross should have been a priority (Mahrez) !. Having not signed one I really hope Poch will be a bit more flexible and give GKN some proper game time in addition to giving Edwards minutes from the bench. As we have seen time & again we do tend to be very narrow and tend to play into the hands of teams who pack the middle of the field

Edwards is nowhere near first team standard tbh

6/6.5 for me as well. Definitely a 6.5 had we done the Aurier deal earlier.

Big fan of signing a lot of trophy winners in Llorente/Aurier/Sanchez which was needed in a squad that lacked any trophy experience (bar Tobes); our defence has been improved. If we can get Barkley in Jan then I will be happier.

BARE IN MIND thought that Dele is out for the first three games of the CL which will be telling.

Aurier--------------------------------------------Rose/Davies

------Eriksen------------Kane---------------Son

I assume that would be the CL team....... nothing wrong with that really, although lose Son as a bench option....

Llorente is a great bench option though

If true... that's why we should have signed a winger given his lack of faith so far in KGN.

Will be interesting to see how we line up in 10 days....Do Aurier & Sanchez go straight into the team in a 3-4-2-1 for Everton ????

****************Hugo*****

******Sanchez** Toby** Jan*****

*****Auirier***Dier** Beast***Davies*****

**************Eriksen***Dele************

**********************Kane***************

Bench...... Llorente, Sonny, Wanyama, KGN, KWP, Jansen

With Rose, Trips & Lamela ( ?) all to come back.. That's pretty solid !!!

Like I said on my article, 6.5/10. Good window without being great. Llorente good signing and means we are now a lot stronger upfront. Aurier excellent Walker replacement. Sanchez and Foyth strengthen the defence for the 3 centre back formation I think Pochettino will go for now. Still need a fast winger and should of bought a creative midfielder.

with the amount of crosses our fullbacks provide, Llorente should be a great weapon !

Having not signed a winger... Getting Rose back fit, motivated & firing is huge. He could be fantastic with a Back 3 behind him, big spaces to attack at wembley & now Llorente & Kane to cross to. As solid as Davies is defensively he's pretty avg going forward

"Why do we act like our team is so precious? Why purchase 'cover' for Kane when we can show ambition and purchase someone to play alongside him, or compete with him for the berth?"

It's a really good point, as is your Utd comment.

Two things:

First, not many players want to come to a club unless they know they'll be first choice. Players want to play, especially with WC coming up. There was a quote from Morata, who we had approached, but he effectively said why would he come to us when we have Kane? I would love genuine competition, as you say, but to not be back up you have to be at Kane's level, which would cost 75m+ (e.g. Lukaku), and then one of the two isn't playing each week. In theory I agree with you, but in reality it probably wouldn't work.

Second, I wonder if we do almost guarantee some players that they'll be first choice to compensate for our low wages. We know we can't offer what the bigger clubs can in terms of wages, so maybe this is the bargaining tool. Sure you can go to City and earn £250k a week but play half a season, or stay here for £100k a week and play every game. Only a guess but I'm sure there'll be some of that thought in some players minds.

Yeah you can only get that serious competition if you offer the $$$$$ otherwise its the hope of unearthing some gems (like Janssen) that often don't pay off.

Llorente is a terrific signing. Not impressed with your other business tho tbh.

Stood still at best, which would be fine if others had too.

3/10. Would have given it 5/10 if we'd done the deals 3-4 weeks earlier.

No idea as I've never heard of Sanchez and never seen Aurier play.

I like Llorente but I've no idea how we can play to his strength with the limited width we have.

didn't we deliver the most crosses into the box last season?

the answer seems quite obvious... our fullbacks...

that's how we play

Most attempted this season, not sure about last. 82 played this season, with City & Utd on 77.

Regardless of width, he'd be a threat from set pieces. Think of all the corners we had against Chelsea.

We have a lost a bit of our threat from set pieces. Not many goals coming from our CBs.

Not convinced by Llorente but we'll see. Trust him to score off the bench more than Janssen at least

Our main failure has been a lack of attacking mid/wide forward. As this means Sissoko is first option behind Eriksen/Dele/Son until Lamela returns

Having Rose and Lamela back fully fit will be huge

I'm going slap Bang in at 5

2 young defenders
1 good Stop gap striker
1 potentially great RB
