Sorry Scruttocks I've never used one, a guy in my office has one and he really rates it. Think he used to have a Sony though before that not a Samsung.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The other phone that's making waves is the OnePlus 5.
I've never met anyone who has one but reviews wise it's reported to be close to as good as the S8 but far cheaper.
I'll probably stick with iPhones to be honest.

But yeah, the cut out for all the front facing camera, they never showed a movie playing or anything, will the screen have a black bar either side so it's still flat, or will there be a weird shape missing out of the movie you're watching?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It just cuts out that part of your film or game, no black bar which is absolutely mind boggling, not sure why they have done that.

Anyone have much experience with the high end Huawei phones?
My Samsung has been acting like a caant since updating to the latest version of Android so I'm tempted to look elsewhere within the Android market but need something seriously powerful (not interested in Iphones).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First and only Huawei phone I had was the Nexus 6P and the build quality was absolutely fantastic. I'd wait until the Mate 10 is announced next month if you're looking at the high end Huaweis. Going to have the same aspect ratio as the Galaxy S8 with the edge to edge design and an absolutely huge battery.
I was going to wait for it but my OnePlus 3T has one of the worst battery life's of any phone ever so I am just going to get the Note 8 on Saturday.

Just looked at hands on vids from the event, you can just 'zoom out' and resize the film apparently if the black section is too much for you. So yeah, a black strip just down the left side basically.

Does that effect the rest of the video like the other side of the screen? What about games?

Fair enough. The Note 8 seems like an absolute monster

Not sure to be honest, it was a Q&A with someone via Twitter who was using one at the time, and someone asked, he said you could re-size the screen if it bugged you.

Did you update your phone last week? I've got a Samsung s6 edge. Updated it last week and the call microphone seems to have stopped working.

I updated mine (s6) a couple of months ago, possibly May and it's just regressed so much.
It's obviously slower and often stops being able to play videos (even ones taken by the phone) as well as not ringing out loud until it's reset - this is a daily issue.
It is apparently a known issue with the update. Total joke.
