Poor first season but we seem to have clicked so far this season.

The fixture list has been kind to us, hopefully we can continue to win the games we'd expect to which will give us a good chance of challenging I hope.

So a league cup and europa league cup in a bedding in season is a poor season nowadays?

We have yet to face a decent side though, otherwise, great start to season.

Probably referring to not making top four!

The first season was good but not great. Busby was an LVG diehard to wont easily admit that Jose didn't do too badly in his first season. Our league finish is irrelevant if we don't win the league. We still made the CL and won two trophies.

This season we've corrected a lot of the problems of last year and still have room to improve which is scary for other sides.

Jose didn't do brilliantly in his first season.

- spent a fortune
- easiest run ever to a European trophy, overwhelming favourites from day 1 and did not play 1 decent team to get there.
- finished outside of top 4.

However:
- got us playing slightly more exciting footy
- tightened up at the back
- won a couple of minor trophies.

We've made a good start this season without playing anyone decent yet. That will be the acid test, but so far so good.

We were one game from having a poor season, in the end we had a good season. We won two cups and qualified for the champions league. Bearing in mind the amount of money we have spent, like City, this is what we should all expect. I'm still waiting for us to face one of the top teams and see how we set up, our record against them last season, especially away, was nothing short of a disgrace!

Improving the squad
Winning 2 cups
Getting us playing better

That has to be considered a good job so far.

Hallelujah

This is a huge breakthrough article for you.

Can't complain to the way we were during LVG's second season and Moyes tenure, it's a big improvement and we look like a menacing team again

I gave it 5 stars, you deserve it for this one.

I'm happy with where we're going with Jose.

Happy with the signings he's made last season and this one, who despite what people thought would happen, have been largely younger players.

Happy that he hasn't ruined Rashfords career like people assumed he would, claiming that as the reason was why we should've gone for Pep who would no doubt nurture Citys young talents like ItchyNacho.

Last season I'd say we met the minimum target for year 1, which was clear out the players the new manager doesn't fancy, bring in some new faces, and make sure we qualify for the CL, the League cup being a nice bonus and giving the players a taste of winning which should never be underestimated.

This season I'd say the target is to maintain a title challenge, reach the last 16/QF of the CL and go far in the domestic cups again.

Depends on how you look at it I guess. I'm somebody who always looks for improvement, call it pessimistic or ambitious but the football last season was boring and we finished 6th. I'll always see room for improvement and there is plenty of that following last season.

We won Europa which was great but in reality it was a poor set of sides we played. Winning two cups is never to be frowned upon, but they are both lower level competitions than we should be challenging for.

Couldn't really care less about domestic cups. If I was to prioritise:

CL
Pl title
Pl top 4
Fa cup
...
...
..

League cup. (Play reserves) who cares.

I'm a little tentative about the start to this season....

On one hand, I am seeing some of the same problems in our play as we saw last season and have rode our luck, at times.

Yet, we have rode our luck at times and still go on to win games, so maybe we have turned a corner.

I want to see us play a top, in form team to see where we are at.

Overall, happy with Jose... Won some silverware and seeing signs of improved play, though I am still a little confused at his formations and general direction for the club.

Swap PL and CL and I'd agree.

Jose was the manager I wanted the minute SAF announced his retirement.

Last season was poor in terms of the league but you could see we were improving. Jose made us very difficult to beat and we created more but the gods were against us in home games.

This season while there is still much room for improvement at least the ball is actually going in for us.

I like his improvements this year - last season was unacceptable.

We are more intent on attacking and more intent on playing the United way, though I worry that against the likes of City, he will revert back to Jose tactics.

This may sound odd, but I also like that he is clean shaven and well dressed on matchdays. His unshaven, grumpy demeanour was no way for a United Manager to behave in my view, which was the case last season.

We seem to be entering this campaign with a more professional and determined approach.

The first season, league wise, was very poor. Robb's opinion of his job can be dismissed as he was so anti LVG after the Moyes fiasco and so up Jose's backside he is unable to tell the difference between air and methane.

The league cup isn't a trophy we'd normally celebrate. Under SAF, finishing second and winning the league cup would be seen as a bad season, so compared to that, it's a poor season. Compared to LVGs and Moyes time, he did well by winning the Europa, a trophy that Evra saw as a punishment for dropping into it from the CL than anything else.

I'd give him a C so far.

I expected much better though. We were as horrible to watch much of last season. Some of our play was as bad as under LVG. I'm glad that Jose is trying to fix it and fixing the mistakes of the previous managers(I. E. Getting rid of Rooney).

I'm going to wait til the end of the season before I say anything else. Because I did expect a title challenge last season and that didn't happen.

A good point made here. I guess it depends on fans standards.

Rather come 6th and win the league cup and Europa League than come 2nd and win nothing like Spurs did. We both got into the CL but we added 2 more trophies to our record haul taking us past Liverpool in the process.

I'm confident we'll make top 3 this season. Chelsea n Liverpool don't have all week to prepare for league games and we've improved.

Eric, I don't think we should have given up on the league. Maybe I've been spoilt but I think we could've done better in the league and still win the Europa. The fact that Jose seemed to have said, f the league and just go for the Europa irked me.

We're playing well now but there are plenty of times last season where we played as we did under LVG.

Maybe because it takes more than a few months to wash off the stank of LVG. The squad Jose has now is pretty much what he wants and are mainly ones who would listen to his orders and follow them out as requested.

Jose traditionally really comes into his own in his second season so last year was what most of us expected. Build foundations for a second season challenge

well that's just not true, I cant remember us or any team who has ever won that trophy not celebrate winning it, I can remember during fergies last few years when we won it twice in a row the players celebrated it just like any other trophy, cant believe fans turn their noses up at that competition still
