Fifa v PES

The PES demo will suck you in and make you think that the glory days are back....and then they'll release the full version and it'll be mediocre again.

The problem PES will always have is that it doesn't hold the licences, and that will always hurt it.

Also most people will buy FIFA, meaning that if you want to play against mates then you pretty much have to buy FIFA.

FIFA has its faults certainly, but it's generally a decent enough game - until you have to start playing against people who go ultra-defensive with pace abuse up top, which ruins the fun.

FIFA for gameplay
FIFA for gamemodes

PES fans will try convince you otherwise but the hit and rush of PES is not for me tbh.

fifa the last few years has been pretty much the same, hopefully they have made some improvements this year, career mode especially got so stale because all the money in fifa is in the online team building mode

What are you paying for Fifa/Pes this year anyway? About £50?

Although you also have to factor in the new controllers after getting FIFA rage

I've always preferred the gameplay on PES but after buying the new one I'm not impressed with the scripting when playing against the computer at a high level, don't know how I haven't bust my pad 😃

I've played both demos and would say PES 18 is practically the same as last years (which I loved and played to death) so won't be buying that. I don't play online so for me the season mode is key but after watching a video on Youtube everything is practically identical so will see what next years addition brings.

Downloaded the Fifa demo last night and after 2 games deleted it. It felt so lifeless and although looks good and has some neat touches (as you would expect) the overall experience left me feeling very empty. When shooting for example it didn't feel like the shots had any power. Also way too much "fluff" for my liking but for many that may be a key selling point.

I haven't bought a Fifa game since the PS1 days but if the demo had impressed may have switched allegiances for a year just to experience something different. As it is I'll see if things have changed this time next year and tbh I think every 2 years for a football game may be better as the gameplay and graphical changes may be more apparent than spending £40-50 for a glorified squad update.

I've not made the jump to the next gen for a variety of reasons, but (probably stupidly) the new COD has tempted me to pick one up.

Every year, I download the FIFA demo and play that, until the next years demo comes out, then I delete the old demo.

I watch far too many games of football, to also want to play it non stop on the PS4. I prefer shooters tbh. So I only play the FIFA demo once a month...if that. No point in my buying the full game.

I will defo be getting back on COD - COD 4 was the daddy of all games, loved that online.

Played the PES demo last night and it was decent, will try the Fifa one over the weekend.
