Esc..these other teams are playing their youngest players against Rangers. What can Rangers lads take from it, they imho should have stayed in their league. Not one development U20s player for Leicester played for them last night.

Rangers are bigging this up. I'm pretty sure the other teams see this as a training excise. Leicester always give the kids the midweek games or guys who have been out injured. The league is the priority for them not meaningless matches.

With all due respect, it's not about what Leicester or there players are getting out of it, it's about what the young Rangers players are getting out of it.

If Rangers as a club believe they are getting more benefits from this than playing domestic youth games then good luck to them. It'll hopefully be of benefit to the national team in the long run so I'm right behind it.

Smid. Although it says MC U19s its really there 17s that will be on display. Like I said, these teams throw out their kids and the main ones will concentrate in league and cup duties along with the next hen.

Unless your in and around it Smid you can only take my word for it. These are training games for these other clubs who all need to fulfill their league/cup duties to the FA. Don't be fooled you are playing top quality opposition players on the verge of first team squads.

Smid. Honestly, at this age and level the games need to be competitive to feel the strain along with the desire to progress. In a league or cup you have both teams wanting to win and progress in those competitions. I will be surprised if Rangers do this again next year.

So what bubble is saying is that Rangers are playing their maximum strength squads whereas everyone else is doing the opposite?

And that Rangers are hopelessly out of their depth and are making a total erse of it?

Thought so.

The proof of the pudding will be in how many players Rangers get into the first team - and stay in the first team - with this new system.

For pretty much a generation Rangers have been unable to bring through a first team player. That suggests the current system has failed and continues to fail them. To continue with it would be stupid.

This new system may fall flat on its backside but at least they are doing something different.

All these highly paid coaches at ibrox and beyond got it wrong cos “bubbsy” reckons so.

Maybe Rangers should take their first team out of the Scottish Premiership and just play friendlies.

That way they don't play the same teams 4 times a season and they might get to face some decent European teams

Was at the game last night, exercises like that one are exactly why the club decided to take this route.

Worth remembering it was a very young Rangers team as well, quite a few of the boys were in the Glasgow cup team a few months ago. The whole idea though is to put them against better players rather than the usual guys they have been coming up against for the past 8 years week in week out.

In terms of the game itself I thought first half was even, second half Leicester got ahead and Rangers didn't respond. I listened to Graham Murty after the game who said a few of them got a taste for what it was like playing at Ibrox with a crowd on their backs when things weren't going well, and that is exactly what they need to prepare for if any of them make it in the first team.

Correct...that is ideal prep for the first team !

In murty we trust!

I hope we don't lose murty, I think he is good to have in the club and good for the youth team.

The biggest problem with youth football in Scotland is that far too many people worry about the score, hump the ball forward and get goals, who cares it's youth football , there's more to be taken from a match than the score
