How many first team players has the best academy in the world produced?

No one but my point to another poster was that they have not thrown a blank cheque but actually have a plan. Let's see what happens. They could follow the Chelsea model where they make 30/40m on loan fees alone.

Football has moved on. Its just fanciful to think that even Shankly could compete against the finances City Chelsea United have. We may finish outside top4 this year which will see us fall further behind. I hate that money is the difference but i also hate being left behind and not winning a trophy. You can coach players to a better level but invariably they will then move on to clubs who compete for trophies and pay better salaries.

It doesn't all have to be about money.

You just have to have a long term plan.

Like the one our current owners and manager have.

You just have no patience because you only want to win. You don't actually enjoy football.

I guess that’s the difference between true die hard fans and those who are there for the good times and as soon as the times are hard, these fans go and support another club!

Liverpool can stay true to it’s immense history and traditions and win trophies without sacrificing any of that
You’re ok with wiping out a clubs identity so long as that club wins something?

Long terms plans:

Roy Evans long term plan
Houlier long term plan
Rafa long term plan
Hodgson none existent plan
Rodgers long term plan
Now Klopps long term plan

Long term plans don't exist. They just peter out and then the next long term plans begins.

There is nothing short term with that the others clubs with rich owners. They are still around.

Wait, who says we are up for sale?

It's more likely Newcastle are given they couldn't give Rafa any cash to spend.

They mentioned that Stavely woman being there on MOTD last week and mentioned whether a bid for Newcastle was on the cards.

There's been not even a hint that our owners want to sell up.

Yeah saw that

But somehow it's being turned into Liverpool being for sale?

Generous of Newcastle to let us use their boardroom to conduct some business.. with the video link so they can speak to JWH as he wasn't there.

Abramovich is still around but he doesn't spend money any more. Chelsea are not interested in building the strongest squad around, just sustain a level of competitiveness.

PSG owners and City owners just want to win the CL. Whether they will maintain the same level of spending once they have achieved that remains to be seen.

It's just like playing a computer game with real football clubs. Once they have achieved all there is to do, will they still give a crap?

There is a middle ground between being in thrall to the past and being a rich mans plaything.

You just don't want to find it because rich mans plaything wins quicker.

Stand to reason. You want to buy a club so go one of their away matches

The whole of the FFP is to keep money spending fair. The whole idea is to make sure that clubs should only spend as much as they receive, with obviously not being able to post a massive loss in the mean time. The board are allowed to inject cash into the running of various different parts of the club, but they are on a budget as it is anyway.

Clearly the whole point in PSG loaning Mbappe was so that they didn't fall flat on their face with FFP.

FSG bought LFC to do one thing: make money. They have no love of the game such as Roman. Pleased we are not an American franchise

posted on 10/10/17

They haven't made any money so far and the club must do well if they want a big profit.

I prefer that as compared to financial doping and losing your soul by becoming the plaything of a rich Russian.

So you would rather be a plaything of a American global mulitnational sports investment company. Okay, then...

Wouldn't be so dismissive of Newcastle, they're in the premier league with a good manager.

Give him some funds for players he'd have targetted already for the January window and it would pretty much mean a guarantee to stay up.
