Kurdistan is an entity that should have been sorted out after WW1 when the Ottoman empire collapsed. To the world's shame it was ignored, and now a brave and noble people are shunted around in 3 counties that have no respect for them and they are oppressed as a result.
Yet another case of Brits fvcking up when they drew straight lines on a map. I blame Lawrence of Arabia.

So where's this new Kurdish state going to emerge from without taaking oil-rich chunks out of Iraq, Syria and Turkey?
Hard to see that one ending well.

Of course there will be issues, but these oil rich areas in Iraq,and Syria you speak of could have been under daesh control without peshmerga fighters.
And, turks did fek all to help the fight against daesh,,in the main, so the time in s now for turks to grant autonomy at least to the Kurds.
As stated by Que, lines drawn on maps mean little.

America and Britain should stay out of the Middle East.

I agree, and the region itself needs a new start, with new leaders.
Not all our fault as that presumes we have more power than we do.
The status quo will be maintained. The Kurds will be dumped on as they were after Gulf 1. The fact that they made the sacrifice doesn't matter now. The purveyors of weasel words in Baghdad and Ankara have the ear of the west and that's all that matters.
