So far this season Melton I think we remind me of City last season. Not clinical enough despite dominating games and prone to costly errors at the other end.

Fair assessment?

Completely agree. I do think Klopp was a bit more pragmatic in his approach yesterday to make sure you had a bit more protection. In all your other games, the issue has been going for a goal as you haven't taken your chances and leaving the defence exposed to the sucker punch, which is exactly where we were last season.

Klopp will be saying the same as Guardiola last season, in that the underlying issue is more needing to take your chances rather than just the defence. The latter is exposed due to the issues with the former.

Just as a by the by, Klopp joined Liverpool exactly two years ago, so I don't know how he has three seasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s in his third season now and hardly setting the world alight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So he's not had 3 seasons then has he

Klopp joined in October 2015 so has almost had two full seasons before this one started

So far season three is hardly a step forward.

We've played 8 games, Liverpool are 2 points off 4th and the team currently occupying that place is Watford. It's hardly a disaster like everyone is making it out to be.

It took Klopp 5+ years to get that Dortmund side right which eventually reached the CL final and won league titles and this Liverpool squad is far from complete right now, hence why Keita is joining next summer.

You have one win in your last 8 games with your best player due to miss the next few matches and no real sign of fixing said issues.

As it stands I can’t see you making top 4

Are you just going off the results Robb?

They're playing better than Chelsea or Arsenal, who are on the same amount of points. I'd be amazed if they don't start converting more of their chances. Lallana coming back will help them a lot too.

Best squad I've seen in a while in my opinion. Probably since 2010. Good average age as well with youth coming through to boot and looking like they have quality. Yes it would be nice to have four more points but I'd like to think I can see a bigger picture than that. Looking at the way results are going Watford and Burnley aren't looking the easy games they were meant to be either and we've not had a decision go our way all season. Even when we got a pen he missed it

We're not playing that badly and we're not losing games either.

Couple of points off fourth and four off third with them next up. We need to start winning games though, fully aware of that, but Maribor and a post Madrid Spurs at Wembley is a great opportunity to start doing that.

I think City, United and Spurs will deffo get top 3

And after that Chelsea should make top 4.

Liverpool are missing a load of chances but their defence will always be an issue.

How can anything be certain now? Spurs look weak at home and everyone thought City would run away with it after 10 games last season before capitulating and United didn't look great yesterday either really.

Its a lottery and ultimately, it is about who picks up more points at the end of the season. Everyone will drop points somewhere. Arsenal lost at Watford and got hammered at Liverpool, Chelsea lost to Palace and Burnley, Spurs have only won once at home out of 4 and Liverpool have dropped points against Watford, Burnley and Newcastle.

Its a tough league, nothing is decided after 8 games. Liverpool looked decent going forward and should have maybe won yesterday with one or two good chances missed. Give it some time and that ball will find the net one way or another.

Plus we're actually +2 points up on the same games compared to last season, it's just we've had the games we did cr@p in near the start.

As a comparison Chelsea are -9 and Arsenal are -2.

This whole "least Liverpool played the right way yesterday" by some Utd fans is really making me chuckle.

They side ways passed it, refused to overcommit, had no invention, penetration and resorted to stacking their shots stats with 30 yard tame efforts and with 15 minutes left took off their two best players and replaced them with rubbish.

Remind you of anyone? That's right LVG's UTD....

Funny how when you guys had to watch that same football you didn't call it "playing the right way"

You obviously didn't watch LVG Man Utd, we used to pass it to death in the box and have tons of shots blocked inside the box. We rarely ever shot from 30 yds under LVG. Thats what we do more under Mourinho.

You watched a different game to most other humans.

Sure thing hafi

I saw teams come and sit back and LVG keep his back four on, watch us slow pass it to death and focus on keeping the ball and the team show zero creativity or penetration.

Basically same as watching klopps pool.

If he wanted to win it yesterday why did he need all the defensive players on the pitch after it became obvious UTD wanted a point? He could've taken both full backs off for Ox and Sturridge and really over ran us, he seemed as content with the point as Jose.

No I saw Liverpool keep the ball and create two chances all game. Shoot tamely at de gea from distance and just side ways pass it.

Take the klopp tinted spectacles off bud, your attacking play was awful yesterday

posted on 15/10/17

I don't think you understand the game to be honest.

You have just suggested we should have taken off both full backs.

I mean that's mental.

posted on 15/10/17

I didn't think it was that bad considering Mane was out. If you have a team with players of United quality playing two deep banks of four, then you're not going to create many chances against it.

It's not just United they're struggling to beat though is it?
For all the hype about them in the so called big games, they don't half flatter to deceive in the others

posted on 15/10/17

Yeah Liverpool are like the old adage

Scorer of great goals not a great goal scorer.

For a team lauded as the most committed to attacking football in the country their goal return is awful.

I keep hearing about a couple of injuries but this is a squad game.

United had £200m worth of footballers out injured but injuries aren't an excuse apparently.....

No and that would be a bigger concern if they werent creating chances. They are though, and a considerable amount, just not finishing them.

They might stay like that throughout the season, I doubt it though. Apart from get the team playing in a way that creates chances though, there's not much more Klopp can do (aside from push for another striker to be signed).

posted on 15/10/17

That was united last season though, all those 0-0's where we had 20 shots at home.

What did mourinho do? Go out and buy one of the leagues top scorers and what has he done, scored 7.

Klopp is just clueless, he hasn't addressed any of the Liverpool issues and for some reason won't.

He's gone nowhere in reality, when they're or if Europe they do well in the league (top four) when they are in cL they struggle in the league.

Considering he has spent 200m and Mourinho has spent 300m we keep hearing about these three injuries to mane lollana and Clyne.

United had 200m injured yesterday and easily kept Liverpool at arms length.

When klopp focuses on building a squad I think Liverpool will do better over the year. But like Jose, he won't change his ways.

posted on 15/10/17

The big concern for me if I were Klopp would be the fact that despite all the chances they're creating, the opposition only need to create one or two, HIS decision to ignore signing a CB may cost them a CL spot

posted on 15/10/17

I don't think that is his decision though, he clearly did want a centre back. He's not in charge of transfers though, I can't think of any managers that are nowadays.

Klopp must be laughing his head off at Jose getting the flack for him drawing another home game. Avoids critisism like nobody else.
