Strachan definitely put in a decent run of results but ultimately we're still gash.

Was all too little too late for WGS.

Unbeaten in 6 aye but if he'd have stuck to what was serving him well and picked in form players for the entire campaign it could so easily have been a different story.

Is this a good thing given the nations cup draw coming up?

I have no idea if we want to be high in the rankings or not

paddy

shot himself in the foot, had he picked in form players sooner he would have done himself more favours.

stubborness cost him, he has nobody to blame but himself.

assume that mutant mcghee has followed him out the door btw?

29th in the world but not one of the 32 going to the World Cup

Sounds like the rankings are a pile of pash

At one point under McLeish we were ranked 11 in the world, just behind England, and still didn't qualify.

I’ll bide my time to see what inept fool we are saddled with once our illustrious football governing body have decided who is the “right man for the job”.

My hopes are not high of it being anyone decent.

Malky will get the job permanently. I've no doubt about it.

Absolutely scunnered with it.

By the way, this Holland friendly is another example of ineptitude. Not only does it mean nothing in terms of preparing us for the next round of qualifiers since we don't have a permanent manager, but it can actually be damaging to our co-efficient.

The Strachan dismissal and subsequent job search should not distract from the fact that SFA is not fit for purpose and Regan, like his chum Doncaster, are incompetent.

I reckon that will be the general consensus Ginger.

To back show Racism the red card and then put Mackay in temp charge a few days after doesn't exactly help turn in the tide in their favour in terms of a confidence vote

I see they’re looking for crowd funding to pay the new managers wages 😂

The SFA are just skint amateurs, making amateur decisions.

If only the SFA looked at this site. I told them how to fund it last week. Offer Ancelloti up 5 million a year for three years. As soon as he signs, stick the 365k they paid strachan on him to sign (he was 40-1 last week), announce him a day or two later and hey presto - fully funded manager for three years and it'll cost them nothing. Even if they need to sack him it costs them nothing.

I actually like this idea.

I was chatting to a mate of mine whos a big Partick fan (for his sins) on Saturday and I asked him why on earth Strachan and Scotland had parted company when they are so much better now than when he took over. He said he didn't have a clue and thinks most of the potential candidates will take the team backwards.

Like me he thinks that as the direction of travel was upwards the good people of Scotland should be alot more narked about Gordon leaving than they seem to be?

posted on 16/10/17

Yes there was a late run of good results, but it was all too late really. The final game summed everything up that was bad about recent Scotland games and Strachan's decisions to play the same old faces, even if they were f@cked from the previous game.

posted on 16/10/17

SFA will not appoint anyone better than Strachan but he did himself no favours with his arrogance and stubbornness . Mckay, Moyes, Lambert would be awful appointments, better to go for the guy in charge of Iceland.....somethingson !

posted on 16/10/17

Strachan didn't do a bad job. He just didn't do a good enough job to stay on. And his selections were often far too much the same faces that had let him down before. Personally I thought he valued English based players too much especially championship ones.
