More revenues, more jobs, higher wages, more opportunities for content creators, can still remain non-profit but instead of revenue of £900m-£1bnmaybe get it to £1.2bn that’s £200m-£300m more to play with for all of the things you have listed.

Have you always felt that Channel 4 needed this?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pointless question but obviously no is the answer.

Do I need to repeat that I would rather they keep it and improve it?

Honestly I cba with this place
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not your fault mate.

This place went down the crapper when it got hijacked by extremist posters.

All the conservatives driven out and made to feel not tolerated here. As usual. Now a bland talky point lefty echo chamber.

Only consolation is seeing the pronoun police easte time agreeing with each other all day.

What sad little lives.

I thought you and Sat Nav left because you just couldn't defend the Tories anymore

Funny tho, you come in and throw a couple of insults at us but claim it was who drove you out 😕

Conservatives are lowlifes mate, they’ve proven that by running this country into the ground. Until you get it into your thick skull then continue acting like the little 5 year old victim that you are and rage quit again.

I consider myself open minded and certainly don't have any loyalty to any political party.

I would love to read an account of how the Tories and Brexit have benefitted the country that's actually believable.

Conservatism is a cancer, look at what it’s done to America and this country. It’s got nothing to do with loyalty to a party, I’m not Starmer’s biggest fan but the one thing he’s got on these cuuunts is he’s a decent man.

To be fair, the biggest root of this country’s problems in recent times was as a result of Labour’s weak immigration policy adding about 3-4million people to our population, so we became overcrowded & underfunded

Proving my point - the first three responses come from:

A troll who lies about why me and Sat Nav stopped posting and what our motivation was for commenting on here. Neither of us were huge fans of the Tories - we were just conservative, him on economics mostly, me on social/cultural issues.

And the other poster is a guy who has been kicked off on here twice for smearing people and regularly spams lefty twitter, who also misrepresents me in his ignorant opinions.

And the third is some guy dribbling about the Tories, when I said 'conservatives'.

Anyway, the only nominally right-wing posters on here are peks and Oscar.

There used to be a good dozen of us, including the likes Gingernuts, ttliv, SatNav, and me...

Note we have left, and who has arrived.

Just a hive mind chatting to yourself.

The Aus election is the first thing I've seen to give me any semblance of hope for the future of our planet..

Massive voting swing towards climate action by one of the biggest polluters per capita, in one of the area's most ravaged by climate change.. and not only do a more environmentally friendly party seem to be taking power, it looks like they may be beholden to even MORE climate positive independents and greens..

Wonderful stuff.

I really hope this is a sign of shifting times.. need Aus to burst out of this as a success story, I've just been reading again though, and it's starting to look like a majority for labour..

Good in the sense it leaves their conservatives navel gazing, and sends a strong message about their leadership and the "lost decade" to act on climate change.

But sad that labour won't be held to higher climate pledges by the necessity of coalition parties with far more robust policies. Who would likely, have compromised on many other policy areas to beef up climate action

Some £250,000 of taxpayers’ cash was spent on on focus groups in 2020, with more than half taking place in Tory target seats.

Information revealed under Freedom of Information laws reveals 16 out of 28 focus groups took place in the North East, North West, Midlands and Scotland.

Four sessions took place in Scotland and only one in Wales.

A further four were held in the East Midlands, two in West Midlands - but only one in London.

Yeah, Labor’s policies on climate action aren’t really coherent (see their statements on coal, for example) or in sum remotely what might be described as radical.

There are huge challenges in Aus with carbon-decoupling their economy: energy and heavy industry have enjoyed a free-for-all which has seen the country’s engine room become completely reliant on carbon intensive activities.

Unpicking that is going to take some very serious legislative intervention. I guess we’ll see if Labour have the will and the spine to see that through; the opposition and the public are going to kick them hard if they attempt half of what is really required.
