I dont think he meant to but, a conservative commentator highlights how 5hit wage growth has been after 10 years of Conservative misrule.

Are those figures for the last 10 years? Or in the last pandemic-hit year?

Couldn't find a source, and the telegraph article is blocked behind a paywall

I seriously doubt it's merely for the last 12 months, don't you? In fairness though, now we''re out of the EU and all those Polish builder fellas arent coming over ere and suppressing wages any more, we should see some growth, Amirite?

Really not sure, but given that the nurse pay rise figures and inflation figures are included for comparison then I'd be inclined to think it's a short term comparison

The figures look very similar to the ones quoted in this standard article:
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/ons-hospitality-ian-jones-b922394.html

It looks like it's based on ONS data comparing April 19 to April 20

Actually ONS have even more up-to-date data as of 2 days ago
https://www.ons.gov.uk/visualisations/dvc1227/index.html

" Jobs considered elementary occupations, such as construction labourers, security guards or cleaners, and skilled trades occupations such as electricians, gardeners or tailors fall mostly into the high vulnerability group.

This means that, as they are less likely to either be classed as key workers or able to work from home, people in these jobs could be more likely to be furloughed or work fewer hours than normal."

Those are out-of-date figures from 2018, the ONS figures released in Feb last year suggested that real wages had recovered back to pre-financial crisis levels.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51543521

So I am 99% sure that these sudden wage contractions being experienced by certain industries are as a result of the pandemic rather than a decade of wage stagnation.
