Can't argue with much of that. Only thing I'd say is that Jose doesn't rate Shaw that much. Maybe he decided to give Young a rest, and put Shaw in the squad in case of injury. That's my best guess.

I’m glad it happened tonight, not in the premier league. Hope it will be the end of Zlatan and Lukaku playing together. As long as Zlatan came in, the team was so unbalance with only Rashford in the wing. Whichever wing he was in, Basel just went the other way and overlap the fullback

Twist is brave, but it's a wildcard, stick, you've trusted them, they've been utterly awul, but in that one moment might pull something out.

Tonight was another reason why Jesse Lingard should not be at Manchester United. What does he ever offer. He is utterly useless. Especially considering we keep loaning Perreira out.
Secondly it seems to be the norm away from home that our second half performances are utterly abysmal.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Southampton, Basel. Not sure what Jose tell them but we really need a change of tactics or mindset. We can't carry on playing like this otherwise we will end the season with nothing

I wouldn’t go that yet. He’s a big part of the reason as to why we’ve smashed so many lesser teams compare to last season. Needs to improve parts of his game though.

We don't know anything about how these players cope with playing alot of games.... some players might thrive on it... others need more recovery time.
If we don't know these things... probably wise not to worry about them.

Yeah this is my thoughts.
I can see pogba and zlatan and rojo needing game time so perfect for them to get minutes.
But it was an opportunity to rest players too and maybe even.experiment
We did neither in the end and despite people saying its an over reaction its a mindset that needs to be created. If teams are there for the taking then take.them and build confidence
We completely rested mata, young, valencia, smalling and ddg and gave sub appearances to rashy and matic.
So rest for 7 of the 11 that will likely play on Saturday.

Pogba, fellaini and rojo all needed match fitness....
lingard, herrera, blind, darmian and Romero are all squad players.

The overreaction on the match thread generally is pathetic and that is why 9 times out of 10 I don't read them.
However the overreaction overall is slightly warranted. Time and time again our team looks lacklustre away from home especially in the second half. We seem to create very little on the ground and then when we are under the cosh we seem to be clueless in how to change it. Our away performances this season have simply not been good enough in the main and with some tough ones coming up it is slightly worrying. Our tactics, mindset need to change in these games because carry on playing the way we are we will get nothing from this season

Don't get the whole dead rubber thing. We were poor as we have been many times in last few seasons
We should always expect the team to perform. Losing isn't the issue the abject displays are
