That said, in the EPL - Fabregas is way above Modric.
And I say that as a huge fan of the player Modric has become and not the greatest fan of Fabregas.
Some Man U'ers think Herrera is better than Kante.

Youngest 58 year old you'll come across Nick!
So many comments on here made me laugh. This one for a start " looks quicker this year too". I think you mean he looks less slow.
The thing at Fabregas that creates so much disagreement is that he essentially plays as two different players - one brilliant, creative, skillful player going forwards; and one useless, slow, weak player without the ball.
There is no doubt that when he's given the ball, he has vision that is second to none. He spots runs and movement from attacking players that nobody else can see, and he has the passing ability to find his man before anybody realizes what he is going to do. If you look at his stats he runs more than anyone else on the pitch as well - so he must be difficult to mark when he makes his runs forward. He arrives late in the box to support forwards (some say that's because he was too slow to keep up with them up the first place though), and creates more chances than virtually any other player. Brilliant at times.
But, when his team does not have the ball, he can be as useless as a training cone. Midfield players on the other team breeze past him like he's standing still. Often when goals are scored against Chelsea, you can see Fabregas trailing behind the play, still "running", but moving so slowly it's almost embarrassing.
How do you judge a player like that? One of the best going forward and creating chances - one of the worst when defending. Certainly playing two other central midfield players behind him has helped him as he doesn't have too many defensive duties. But he almost can't be compared to other central midfield players because of that. Nowadays he plays instead of either Pedro or Willian.
Love the outdated views of players from people who obviously haven't played at a substansial level.
Cesc Fabregas is 15th this year for midfielders in tackles made.
Even the mirror done an article on him when he covered the most ground in a game this season.
Stop living in the past you fool.

Nick's just a Fabregas fanboy if truth be told, everyone knows he's no Legend
Probably struggle to make a PL top 20 of midfielders
He's a tough one. The fact he failed at Barcelona hurts him a little bit, I know it's not part of his PL history but it stops him from being considered a legend of his era on a worldwide scope.
If he'd have gone back to Arsenal rather than sign for us he might've had a Gerrard type legacy by standing out as a leader among followers for one specific club - would've been seen as Mr Arsenal by now the same way Gerrard was for Liverpool.
He'll always be greatly appreciated by me but that's more to do with circumstance than his individual ability. We were crying out for a player like him in midfield forever before he signed. Does he statistically hold any type of assist record that'll reinforce an argument that he's a PL record?
Modric in his prime miles better than Fab.

Absolutely Biggish - but standby for the outcry, wailing and gnashing of teeth now you've said that!!!
Fabregas isn't a Chelsea legend.
Fabregas is one of the most talented midfielders I've ever seen. Far better than the likes of Modric, Alonso, Kroos etc.
He overcame a lack of size, speed and strength with technique and football IQ, to become a World Champion.
During the 2005/06 CL, he outplayed Zidane and Vieira in CL knockout games when he was 18.
He recorded the game-winning assist in a World Cup Final and a European Championship Final.
It's a shame we turned down the chance to bring him back to the Emirates. If he'd re-joined Arsenal, that would have been better for his legacy.
Literally the only assist-getters in football better than Fabregas are Ozil & Messi.
Frankly, people who talk about assist stats know absolutely feck all about football.

What about Chances Created?
Apart from Ozil, who's statistically the best chance-creator by a mile, Fabregas is up there with the rest (Messi, Xavi, Silva etc.) in terms of chances created.
