DO WE NOT GIVE PLAYERS A CHANCE ANYMORE

No one gives players a chance, their own, or other teams. We had it all year with Pogba last season, it was clear he'd improve in time but at one point he was actually rated worse then Henerson on here.

Bakayoko needs to improve a lot by the looks of it, and Drinkwater should be starting more now he's fit, until the former is up to speed in the PL.

Bakayoko was good in a free flowing, fast paced attacking team with some incredible talent like Mbappe, Silva and Falcao, playing in a much more physical league.

He was always going to take time to adjust to playing in a pragmatic team, with no outstanding players, in a slow paced league where tackling isn’t allowed. If anything, he’s too good for the Prem and the Prem needs to take time to adapt to him.

Good point raised, but it's merely reflective of the brutal nature of football these days. If Bakayoko doesn't improve by the end of the season he'll more than likely became a member of the loan army before long (a la Rahman). So why should fans back a player when odds are on present form the club won't back them?

I want Bakayoko too come good, and I personally seem to be seeing potential that others here don't, but I get the lack of faith in him. You'd have to be delusional not to be worried watching him sometimes.

Half of the fellas on here don't want to give any non-english non-academy players a chance.

Drogba. Hes first season was awful, labelled piece of cr*p and complete waste of money
Makalele. Hes first season also awful labelled crap and complete waste of money.

What? moron

while I agree I don't think he was the right signing to replace Matic, Hes here now.

Some fellas still crying about Chalobah and Ake ffs.

drogba first season people criticised his attitude and falling over- he scored 10 in 26 games. Not all starts.

Makelele was appreciated as soon as he came.

I also don't know who said bakayoko was the worst signing we have had.

I done an article asking people who was our worst because if bakayoko carries on like this then he will be up there.

I'm that Chelsea fan who believes Baka is gonna come good, but it's gonna be a slow burner.

It's all well and good waiting for a player to "come good"

However...you don't need to fackin play him for 90 minutes after 90 minutes at the expense of the quality we have had on the bench though

I used to think Harry Kane was an absolute fackin donkey Thought he'd be a championship player, maybe if he was lucky he could make it to West Brom or Stoke etc.

That being said, bakayoko really does not look good. Like at all.

He also claimed to be as good as Kante and pogba and should be in the France team.
Was probably monacos poorest player in the games I saw too.

Bench him and give him 15/20 mins...let him settle

Can't be doing with Willy Peds & Drinky on the bench whilst he's occupying a slot..it aint right

Totally agree with Nick and the points above on this. I have only recently joined the dissenters about Bakayoko but for me at this point having seen virtually all of the game time home and away I can honestly say that the only game where I was extremely impressed with him was Athletico Madrid away.

In the early games we cut him some slack because it was rumoured that he was carrying an injury, but surely that still can't be the case now. It's certainly far too early for anyone to be considering him our worst signing ever, because he might still come (hopefully) very good, but IMO he does need to start performing or else it isn't fair on the proven performers on the bench that currently are being left out to make way for him.

I remember that Dennis Wise was virtually anonymous for his first year and a half with us, hiding out on the wing, but we all saw just how influential he became in later years, so hopefully Bakayoko just needs time to settle, as I alluded to on another thread earlier today.

Wisey struggled at first but came good. I still miss him think he's be great for us at his peak today. Loved the guy and would give us the leadership we've lacked since JT left.
Maka and Drogba thats very harsh. They both did very well in season one

Yeah Brum, this came as a complete surprise to me as well. My recollections of Makalele were that he was recognised by all and sundry as THE man from day one.

Christ knows where that throw away comment comes from 69.

Sounds like one of them comments from someone who hopes no one reading remembers and hoping it'll give their comments some much needed creedance.

Never thought Drogba was that bad in his 1st season either - but the Maka comment!!!!!!!

Drogba was also on point from day one but his perceived diving didn't sit well with some of the fanbase. Once he reigned that in a bit he was well popular.

OP must've meant it took until season 2 for Makelele to be seen as 'god' basically. He was just thought of as a very good signing in season 1, which is quite a step down when you think about it

The Drogba one I understand. I didn't rate him at all till season 3.

Devil I was the OP on this and have probably not worded it correctly. My comments were exactly as you have read them.
Makalele was not great in 1st season and drogba the same they had the same sort of things said about them.
I do not remember all this Makalele was God from day 1, that did not happen at all, the moan was we paid 14 million for a I believe 30 year old at the time and in that 1st season some said he was cr*p, thats what i remember, 2nd season was totally different he became what we had all hoped for, same with Drogba but it too a couple of seasons to really bed in.
I hope it is all cleared up now
