Recent form has nothing to do with Matic - Matic is an irrelevance - but all to do with Conte wanting out.

I always maintain you should watch a player a few times before declaring him a massive upgrade.

Matic was awful that season and got dropped for Mikel when Hiddink replaced Jose as interim.

I'll give you the only sensible answer so far on this thread.

No, I don't regret selling Matic. He was a limited player who was often our weak link in the title winning side.

What I do regret is replacing him with Bakayoko!

Nah he just wasn't very good at all. Mikel was an upgrade on him that season.

Well Pride tbf his first few games he looked very much like one, his fall from grace since however has been unprecedented.

But like Charlag said, it doesn't excuse Matic, just like Bravo being crap didn't make Joe Hart world class all off a sudden.

This is the thing I find annoying, so many people had watched the guy play in a high profile season for Monaco and France and come to the conclusion he's not that good, hence none of us were originally that excited about being linked with him. We all thought there were better options out there. How can so many fans see it but not the scouts / board/ Conte
