One of the most difficult clubs for any manager to adapt for a longer spell

posted on 7/2/18

He's been more vocal against the board than any other manager we've had. He'll be gone soon. He didn't get the players he wanted in the summer. He wanted more control too. He didn't get any of those so he started playing up. Apparently he was sending furious text messages whilst on holiday to the board. Then that text to Costa happened which screwed things up a lot for both club and player. He's been having subtle digs at the board for a while now as well. Think the board have agreed that they won't sack him now but they'll mutually agree to leave at the end of the season.

Yeah unless things get much worse (like falling behind the top 4 pack, and out of all cups in the next round) then I think he’ll be there until the end of the season and it will be a ‘mutual consent’ exit and back to Italy.

Weird that we would go January shopping for a manager who won't be here come summer.

And we did do that. And he won't be here.

Yep. Weird.

A Utd fan actually said to me today “Your club are weird.” He just thinks from an outsider’s point of view, our club’s actions especially from originally being in a position of strength defies logic

I reckon they will give him the Barcelona tie and if you go out he will be gone.

If you get through they will give him the next round and see how it’s going.

Does our club court drama?
——————————————————
You wouldn’t thought so. But the board seems to attracts managers who happens to like drama.
——————————————————————-
Before you completely dismiss the idea altogether, every time something appears to be going right for our club it appears to the outsider (and we find it difficult to deny at times) that we sabotage our own progress/implode, even hit a self-destruct button as such.
———————————————————————
I disagree. This self destruction button you talk about, it’s kinda working for us, it brought us success every other year. So you could argue that’s our business model. “If it ain’t broken don’t fix it”

It is very strange that the board went out and got a LWB and a target man striker... I mean Conte was them 2 players (of that mould) and surely if he was 100% going in the summer then the board wouldnt sanction these signings.

I don't think he'll be here, I think Enrique will.

No chance whatsoever of him being here next summer.

Unlikely he will be here in spring

It certainly doesn't look like he will be here next season, more's the pity,If he was given the right backing , we might even win the league again.

Conte knew nothing of Emerson Palmieri, long term board signing.
Giroud short term signing was Conte's.

Bakayoko is evidence Conte shouldn't have complete control of transfers. Player extensively scouted by Conte.

How can you be so sure of this ?

Chose that route £40m over Chalobah, who wouldn't have been any worse. I'm disgusted.

Infact in Chalobah's scarce minutes last season, more productivity than Bakayoko has ever been in his 25 full-matches.

I believe he will see out the season and I believe he will be here next season.

Giroud has mentioned Conte convinced him over the phone.
Conte previously said that Bakayoko was a player that he had been watching prior to move and wanted.

Journalist posed the question about Emerson in Conte''s press conference and Conte implicitly said ‘I don’t remember Palmieri because he played in Italy only last season.'
Club signing.

No secret Conte wanted Alex Sandro.

Hmmm...

posted on 7/2/18

Why do you think Conte has persevered with Bakayoko in the side despite being appalling (to put it lightly)?

posted on 7/2/18

Conte wanted Nainggolan and Vial, ahead of Baka and DW, Koulibaly instead he got David Luiz, Mendy ahead of Zappacosta, Llorente ahead Giroud, Alex Sandro ahead of Alonso,

Also, he wanted Danilo and Sanchez, probably even wanted Lukaku ahead of Morata.

Instead we settled for 2nd or 3rd best targets

posted on 7/2/18

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th choice...fact still remains players I mentioned above were CONTE''S choices (backed with proof).
Along with some you mentioned like Morata (player Conte has always coveted dating back to his Juve days, first choice target I would say and better than Lukaku), Zappacosta, Alonso.
No Nainggolan fine, got Kante instead.
No coach ever gets all their first choice targets, sometimes alternative works out just as desired.

Also Mendy is no alternative to Zappacosta, play on different sides of the pitch. Zap being a RB, Mendy LB.

So cmf

What do you think Conte has been playing at? Are the board in the wrong here? I feel like he's been trying to find a way out since last summer.

posted on 7/2/18

Yep, very much looks like Conte is baiting the board to sack him. Whining and negativity to the press.
Doesn't want to lose that severance pay by resigning.

Conte should take the brunt of the blame for:

-Team selections
- Being outplayed almost every week, very rarely play on front-foot.
- Predictable patterns
- Persisting with Bakayoko & Cahill
- (Late) reactive subs, rather than (early) proactive.
- Reluctance to give more minutes to exceptional in-form academy player, over his out of form favourites.
- Mounting muscle injuries (maybe his "idea of football' is to drain and injury the lot of them).

Yeah totally agree.

Difficult to argue with any of that CMF. Good summary.
