One thing still annoys me is how quickly he will release the ball when it is not needed. Fair enough when a counter is on but sometimes you just need to slow the game down after the opposition have just had an attack.

He had a good save yesterday but made saves that we expect any regular keeper to make. Still got a long way to go to convince anyone he’s first choice but Klopp seems to have twigged onto one thing for certain - perhaps two years after all of us. Mignolet is not good enough and never will be.

Its not praise, it relief

It was the best goalkeeping performance we've seen from a Liverpool keeper all season, of course that deserves praise. You can't put a keeper in the stocks pretty much every game of the season then not praise them when they do well.

Baby steps.

I thought he did well. It was lost in the penalty squabbles last week but I thought he did well with the save from Son - came out well, stayed big and closed the angle.

He's not suddenly amazing but at least we're beginning to see a little bit of why Klopp likes him.

always hated the 'first name on the teamsheet' notion

No it wasn't. It was basics. Mignolet has made good saves. I've yet to see Karius make a good save.

The problem with both is mistakes but Mignolet also makes saves. For me Mignolet is the better keeper. However if it has been decided that Mignolet isn't gonna be first choice for next season then it's better to play Karius who is young and could improve with the game time.

Hopefully we get a new keeper in the summer as Mignolet will be off.

I don’t think you can make a judgement one way or the other until Karius gets a decent run in the team. By the end of the season I think we will see if he’s good enough. He deserves the chance IMO.

I have to say the lad has done ok rushing out as he has stays as big as he can and he has gone and done well on those moments.

If he let in that one he blocked yesterday then it could have been a totally different game after it.

thats a positive at least

He had 2 or 3 routine right at him saves you just want a keeper to hold onto solidly and forget about and he did that. All keepers should be some fluff their lines and spill stuff. He has a history of spilling stuff.

The sooner people forget about him being dodgy the better as it settles everything down. He really has been dodgy though so its inevitable talk

For the record i think

a) mingolet is better on pens
b)mingolet is marginally the better shot stopper
c) mingolet is marginally better in the air primarily as he is slightly taller.
d) karius is better at being positive with ball in hand
e) karius is marginally better with ball at feet
f) Karius is definitely better at coming out of his goal.

He made a top save against Sevilla too.

I would like him to be more vocal. Those crosses which landed on Ward-Prowse was because Roberston was snoozing but before the cross came in Karius saw the danger and rather wave he should be shouting at the left back.

Not watch our games against Southampton in the LC last season? Not see the absolute worldie he produced against Wolves in the FA cup? The great save against West Ham at Anfield last season? He two he made yesterday were good too. You would be disappointed if he didn't save them but that doesn't mean they weren't good.
You can not rate him, which is fine, I don't particularly either, but he has made many "good" saves.

Yeah perhaps my wording isn't right. When I say good save, I mean a save which a top keeper could make but others cannot, I don't mean routine saves every keeper should be making.

He had a bad start but I think he is starting to show some good form he has made some really good saves. What’s wrong with giving him a bit of praise and support.. I trust Klopp judgement how good was robert lewandowski when Klopp first signed him?

Klopp develops players that’s his way everyone wants world class signings all over the pitch if Man City were not owned by an oil rich country we would be bang in the middle of a strong title race right now..

To the op.

If we are quick enough to rip into our keepers when things go t!ts up, we’ve got to give them the when it goes right.

Fastest reactions ive seen from a Liverpool keeper in a long time, still shocking kicking and some flapping punching it 2 yards when he should be catching with ease.

Not convinced but atleast he made a good save and a routine tip over that required a bit of reaction speed and agility.

and concentration*

Our keepers are clearly coached to punch and by the looks of it coached poorly.
