agree with gelderd, the tribalism is what makes the game special. I remember bringing American girlfriend to man u match 20 years ago, she wondered why everyone was shouting at each other, she also wondered whether was no waitress service to our seats!

Having said all that, the banter and camaraderie between fans away from the ground is something special, look at how fans support sick kids of other clubs and applaud fan efforts for charity.

completely disagree - its that same tribalism that got our fans killed in Turkey and in many other incidents around the world.

I get it for an atmosphere thing, but it just goes too far

Bang on, way too much aggression still in the game, some will say it is passion but it is a very fine line which more than often gets crossed.

My hatred for them is life, back in the day it was the usual.
Okay Spanish I understand, no problem.

The word 'hate' it is the strongest word in the English language & not to be used lightly.

So you think the next time we play those from over the Pennines there should be nothing but respect shown and no songs sung?

Sure the really vile songs shouldn't be sung, and I'm not advocating violence, but the best games are the ones with a bit of hatred between clubs.

I agree it goes too far, but that is human nature, we identify with our tribes and its inbuilt into us how we stick with those like us and hate/fear those not like us, it's a natural survival instinct and what the football tribalism taps into.

What makes the game way more interesting, getting one over the other team and fans you utterly despise.

Bang on Jonty, only way to describe it to people who don't like or understand the game.
