I think calling someone 'a bottler' is not really giving an opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Errrm......yes it is an opinion. An an opinion backed by empirical data. I don't think you quite realize how ridiculous it is to crash out or be disqualified in 6 consecutive events. SIX
This morning was funny in the sense, she first crashed right at the beginning, but was lucky the race was called back. Then she went out there again and got disqualified. Meanwhile 2 of her main rivals seem to race with no drama. She took out one of them at the last Olympics with her recklessness or clumsiness and denied her a chance for Gold.

It is though isn’t it?
For a second olympics in a row she’s (despite being very talented in her sport) been unable to perform.
On the fact that she fell and held her ankle. She got up, started limping as she started, then seemed fine and nearly fell again yet the ankle held up until the end when she had to be carried away.
She’s bottled this Olympics just like the last one.

Okay.
Let's just say that some opinions are rather more credible and backed up by logic than others.

You've offered nothing "logical" here other than being a miserable, snarky sod.
Multiple World Champion over two distances hardly a bottler
Just unlucky and at times makes silly decisions but certainly no bottler
She gives England and Tottenham a good run for there money.

At times? 6 times in a row
In her defence though she made the overtaking look so easy, she was a class above minus the fall and DQ

That means she's got a lot of talent. But the Olympics are the pinnacle of the sport by far where you have to really bring it and where the world's gaze is on you (who is even aware of the speed-skating circuit outside the Olympics) and she keeps flopping.
It's like those tennis players or golfers that become World No.1 but cannot win the slams/majors. You never feel complete.

Someone has some sense on here at least.
Think it's harsh to say she lacks bottle. The previous DQs are obviously playing on her mind though and she's not racing smart at times. It was strange really as she looked in top form in the 500m whilst getting to the final. She should have at least got a medal in that and I think she'd have been alright for the rest of the Olympics. In not doing so and breaking down afterwards, her head clearly wasn't in the right place.
The Olympics might be seen as the pinnacle but you're competing against the same athletes in the world events too so they're no easier to win.

I've seen a number of races from the Korean, Choi, and the Italian, Fontana, who have won 2 of the Golds here in the other speed skating events and easily won their heats today. They simply don't get tangled up in nearly as much drama as Christie. Fontana often leads from the start and Choi overtakes pretty cleanly.
Christie makes the event look like the demolition derby with her aggressive manoeuvres.

Pro athletes in sports that don't make a lot of money (which I'm sure speed skating doesn't) often can't afford to fully commit to their circuits seasonally. Someone like Lizzy Yarnold who won GB's only gold at this Olympics and the last was a total non-factor leading up to both Olympics, but she won the Golds and by a fair margin. It is really at the Olympics where most of the athletes are at their peak form and the pressure and expectation is at an entirely different level.

That's exactly the point though! It's no easier to win the worlds yet she has managed that multiple times. She keeps failing at the Olympics which is the one they all REALLLYYYY want to win. She clearly has the talent so it's psychological, or to put it simply, lack of bottle.
A person on a forum wants to question the bottle of a world champion.
You can't make this stuff up.
Seems like a poor sport to take up when half the time you're crashing.
On a separate note, are all British curlers Scottish?
Gonzalo Higuain and Asafa Powell are prime contenders for the crown.
