Pretty sure he is out injured again - same injury that kept him out for the first half of the season.

Oh dear that's not good, that's him out of the England team for the WC.

I don't know why. Probably end up taking Walcott.

I thought with a run of games and a bit of form he could of got into the England team.

Obviously that's not going to happen, can see him being sold to Stoke or Sunderland next year. Another quality signing by Chelsea

Maybe he could have got into the squad at a push but I think he was pretty far down the list. It's a shame because when he's fit, he offers things that we don't have in a more central position.

Fair

Need Wilshere to stay fit otherwise will have Dier and Henderson in the middle of the park

It hardly inspires confidence does it, although Wilshire will probably be back in the reckoning. England have to decide how they want to go in the middle. We'll have 3 CB's so do we then have two in the middle and a forward 3 with the "wider" players coming inside in support of Kane. Or do we have 3 in the middle with two strikers, maybe one them being Alli just behind Kane.
I think we just have to find a way to have Kane, Alli and Sterling on the pitch and in positions where they'll hurt teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely, I actually think Kane, Alli and Sterling can be very dangerous specially if they click.

Barkley has barely played at all, Homegrown slot is the only reason I think he was signed, £15M was a gresr price to be fair and the risk is really low.

Realistically what is the best 11 England can put out?

And how far would they get?

Butland
Walker Stones Cahill Rose
Wilshere Dier Alli
Sterling Kane Rashfors

hope we never see him play

I’d pick the same team as Greatteams but with a couple of changes. Stones in the middle and Maguire in for Cahill.

If Lallana can get over his injuries I’d play him in midfield ahead of Dier.

I'd go 4 -2 - 3 -1 with Dier dropping back to cover the full backs:

----------------Pickford

Walker - Stones - Cahill - Rose

------Dier - Wilshere

Sterling - Dele - Lingard

------------Kane

We have to give a 3 a chance in a major tournament. We have tried 4 for so long and just looks stagnant every time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Teams playing three at the back is only a recent thing and I can think of other reasons why England so often look stagnant. I don't think formation has that much to do with it.

At international level you have to be able to pass the ball and keep possession, something we're notoriously lacking at, especially against the better opposition which is why we usually come unstuck. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
