I think you're underestimating the improvement in the mousers CFC: FFP and Yoonited while having good players playing $hit football always manage to fluke the points - we're not even good enough to fluke results now!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I dunno, we were pretty flukey v Norwich and Lesta this year. Undeserved draws.

And Brighton, we really weren't four goals better.

You are assuming that City Spurs Liverpool United all maintain their levels/and or improve.

They will have peaks and troughs over next couple of seasons like all clubs.

You can't predict the future in football.

-----------------------------------------

No you certainly can't but you seem to be assuming/hoping that Spurs and Pool are just going through a good moment and that they'll get worse next season and after.

They might get even better. Both clubs are in a healthy position and as long as they keep hold of their managers there's no reason why they can't push on and improve further.

We have to assume that they will, not just hope that they don't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They might get better.

So might we, without internal power battles
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to think you're right CFC:FFP - however!

It's always gonna be boom/bust, feast/famine while Roman is in charge.

Zero chance of any change so we should just enjoy the ride.

Would love to win the Cup this season

Ok but based on our current trajectory we seem far more likely to encounter famine than feast in upcoming seasons.

What worked before won't necessarily still work and even if it did we don't seem to be doing that anymore anyway. That's really the point of this article.

We have more of a winning DNA than Spurs. Would we have let a 1-0 lead slip like they tonight? Maybe at the moment, yes.

But in general our club has a mental resilience than Spurs and Dippers don’t have.

This is worth a lot and Bridges the gap between the clubs

That mental resilience is becoming more and more diluted with each dross player we bring in, how many players do we have with that now - 4? maybe 5?

We smashed the title last season under huge pressure so i'd say theres still more than 4 or 5.

CFC, after we lost at OT (the period Spurs really were pilling the pressure) Cahill said the players came to training on the Tuesday perfectly fine and showing little signs of nerves and feeling the pressure.

If they were as weak as most of our fans made out, they would have crumbled or at best made a dogs dinner of getting over the line.

Cahill also said the other week, referring to the press, something along the lines of:

"Everyone's saying we're in crisis but we're in the top 4, semi final of the league cup, the CL and FA Cup".

Fast forward a few weeks and the only realistic thing out of that lot we have a chance of, is the FA Cup!

Really?

Out of our outfield players I'd say, Dave, Kante, Hazard, Willy & maybe Pedro!

I wouldn't include Cahill as he is not 1st choice selection anymore or Courtois as I never include keepers in that sort of debate!

Well Brummie i don't visit the training ground and im usually too drunk during games to observe from a physiological point of view so i can't bring particular names to the table, but the fact the core of this group held their nerve and have delivered two titles (the first one after an agonizing near miss the year before) suggests they have something about them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

They seem to have lost that something between then and now!

From the way I see things, Christensen I like but is still inexperienced but I'm glad we appear to be sticking with him, as I think he's a great prospect, however Moses, Fabregas are not good enough, Cahill sadly looks past it now, while Bakayoko, Rudiger, Barkley, Drinkwater don't inspire confidence that they have what it takes at the very top level and we don't have a striker who has any meaningful influence at the moment.

Morata looks very fragile and I don't know if he has the self confidence to cope with the PL. Giroud I'd describe as a decent impact sub if things aren't going well.

Maybe it's the ingrained pessimism through following my beloved Chelsea through the 70s and 80s - but I just don't have the confidence that this group are going to bring any further success to our club.

And we need to hold our nerve as Chelsea fans.

Leave the panicking and knee jerk to Spids, Dips and plastics.

Make no mistake, it is a rollercoaster ride under Roman, but it is a GREAT time to be a Chelsea fan.

So lucky to have a great player like Haza to watch and others. Enjoy the ride, lads.

We won't be in CL and Cup QFs every season

Not panicking mate, if we end up in Div 2 again it won't phase my love for Chelsea - indeed many of my happiest days following Chelsea were away days at places like York, Oldham, Carlisle, Hereford and Plymouth.

It's just I think people should have a reality check of where we are now as a club.

And I did list Dave, Kante, Hazard, Willy and Pedro as winners!

Fabregas and Cahill though are sadly finished at the top level I fear!

Fab never had pace or mobility so surely he can go on for a while as a quarter back like Scholes (although he is not as good a player).

Cahill can have an influence in the dressing room and we need a English player in squad

I've never understood the attraction of Fabregas, When people are creming themselves over the defence splitting pass he's made, I'm thinking:

"Yeah good pass - but what's he done for the other 89 minutes and 50 seconds.

Very underwhelming player for me!

I agree. But I don't agree with wholesale dismantling of squad after a poor run.

Fab and Cahill still have roles to play in the club, experience is a strong suit

There was a notable difference in the first season, we seemed to be more fluid and could break deep opposition lines a lot easier, failure to do that regularly cost us the year before.

Since then he's been more suited to rotation, Conte got it right last season as he played him when his strengths would help us and benched him when his weaknesses would hinder us.

Brummie and Frankie

I think next season is an opportunity to play the younger players. But it can only be done if the pressure from above to be successful isn't too great.
