I agree with Wilshire being picked. A fit Jack Wilshire is as good as England have.

Southgate should be sacked for gross misconduct for selecting Hart. There is no reasonable explanation for him being in that squad.

It's quite a bizarre squad really.

Alfie Mawson what has he done to get in?
Livermore he has the second worst CM stats in the PL.
Ashley Young shouldnt be going, he rarely overlaps.

There's a few more strange ones too, I feel for England they are going to get demolished with him in charge.

Southgate was a pathetic appointment and just sums the FA up, it was an obvious yes man appointment and stinks of the old boys club.

He was probably the most uninspiring choice they could've gone for.

Luckily I don't care one bit about the national side, so it makes no odds to me but its the fans that are going to Russia I feel for. They are wasting their time and money.

On form Nick Pope should be first choice imo.

He's been quality this season.

As long as Hart is 4th choice to actually play then I’m ok with him being in the squad as a kind of player/coach.

Henderson is captain of a club in the last 8 of the Champions League, and it’s already been stated that a fully fit Wilshere is a good asset so I’m ok with both of them too.

Overall, I’m happy with the squad. There’s one or two players that I’d definitely question but it’s a good mix of youth and experience.

Also I’m absolutely thrilled to see a Leeds academy graduate and the first England captain since Bobby Moore to actually win a World Cup in the squad.

Butland, Pickford both miles ahead of Hart ffs

Lewis Cook in the England team.

I remember some one here saying he wasn't good enough for us anyway when he left!

totally agree about Hart... the most worrying thing is who else though? - Pickford?

Butland is streets ahead of both. Hopefully will be no1

Fook, I'd play Lewis Cook in goal before Hart. He's
a fooking disaster waiting to happen. Pickford, Butland,
and Pope are miles better than Hart.

Sh 1 te nothing manager.

Only Butland, Pickford, and Pope need to be on that plane to Putinville.

Say what you want about the Daily Mail but this article sums up what I’ve been saying for years is England’s biggest problem.

Tall, I've thought for years that English players in particular are soft. Our 'best' players are surrounded
by actuall world-class talent in the Prem, making
far too many look better than they are. And they make
massive wages thanks to that surrounding cast.

We have a handful of top quality players. And I mean
four or five. Kane being the best at the moment.

They're exposed when they play for England and I
think they know it. So, yes, I do think they're scared
to pull on a shirt.

defo would of said that two years ago... in fact yeah he is streets ahead of them, thing is, thats even more worrying

Batty, that first statement sums up the problem.

The best example here is Harry Kane.

Last season he outscored both Messi and Ronaldo in all competitions on his way to a second consecutive PL Golden Boot, but a lot of people claim that he’s not allowed to call himself World Class.

Yet if Kane were French, Brazilian, German or even Welsh, he would’ve been declared World Class by the media years ago.

Pickford, Pope and butler have 7 caps between them

Hart has 75 and is the most called player in the current squad, which contains 8 players with less than five, which includes four without any caps.

Christ alive, he isint rubbish he is an average keeper in a rubbish team.

Why wouldn’t you take your most experienced player for a couple of friendlies when you have an inexperienced squad.

Particularly when our own fans love to crap on everything we do, personally I’d want someone there who understands that and can relate how it feels to the new players

Sterling at the Euro's was utter tripe but he's been better for his club this season. Have a feeling he will revert to type once he pulls on the white shirt.

Still will never forgive him for the 'look at my glittery bathroom' selfie a day or so after getting a pasting from the giants of world football - Iceland

Did you see Hart's obligatory calamity at the weekend?

comment by Batty (U4664)

Rev, you might be bang on on Sterling. He definitely
falls into the category of being surrounded by actual
world class talent. I'll downgrade him also to very good.

Matty, Hart may have 75 caps, but how many were genuinely earned? On merit? He's been sh 1 Te for
many seasons now. Most England fans knew it.
Sadly the dopes handing out caps didn't. I would
never take a sh 1 Te player to a World Cup. No matter
how many caps he has.

Add to that, what's the end goal of our World Cup appearance? Seriously? No way we're winning.
And I doubt we're getting out of our group. So, why
not take the tact of blooding younger players?

We've won the U20 and U17 cups. Do a Germany
and get that wave of players experience at the highest
level. Why not?

Again he ain’t crap.

He is an average keeper for an average nation.

Would I have him at number 1, no, but if I’m taking three keepers there is no way in hell I arnt taking him.

We are limited in that position and his experience is important.

And he earnt all his 75 caps, that’s all there is too it.

He didn’t hold any manager at gun point they picked him.

Picking Hart when, for once, our options in the position are quite good really illustrates just how one dimensional Southgate's thinking is.
Reminds me a little of Ron Greenwood's thinking in selecting Emlyn Hughes despite Hughes not even being close to the Liverpool starting 11 back in 1980. Based on past glories and not how things actually are.

1979 not 80, he had moved on by then.
